Post » Mon Oct 03, 2011 2:35 am

I went to planet elder scrolls yet see no options for any mods for Daggerfall or a option for it at all, is there any way to find mods? Where they ever made for it?

Also why I am having trouble and dying alot during the tutorial??!~~~ Is there anything to make it easier?? :(

http://www.svatopluk.com/daggerfall/mods/

The game is difficult to begin with, just takes a bit of getting used to. Using low reflexes, high HP per level, regenerate HP in general, and picking the ebony dagger at startup can be helpful.

Some of the mods should have a short readme. If not, just look how folders are set up & put everything in properly named folders. Don't try it if you don't get what I mean...Daggerfall is big enough without mods.

The low reflexes is the very last thing you can select at character creation. Regenerate HP is a special advantage. The HP per level is at the top of the dagger on the right side of the screen. If you want 'easy points' to distribute to more advantages, you can use a high elf with the "critical weakness to paralysis" disadvantage, although it's a bit of a cheat on the system. Along with these tips, setting up your controls to something you feel more comfortable with (if you haven't already), is another major issue. Test out both view settings in the menu; they are majorly different, as is full-screen view.

If you want me to send along a character-making guide for another member a while back, I can PM that to you[EDIT: sorry, no I can't - I didn't save the PM]. For quicker access, though, here's a http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss156/zalunaya/example.jpg?t=1313657932 of most of the information packed together. Please note that it was a quick example - the major weapon skill and some other skills can be shuffled around to great effect while still having a powerful character to begin with. Short blade is easiest because of the ebony dagger question.
Good luck :P

Is there any mods that change all of the textures in the game to super hi res versions of themselves?

Not at the moment; I'm not sure that's even possible. I believe that's a part of the DaggerXL project of moving it into a new game engine, but that's still in the early stages and it'll likely be some time before it reaches that point.

The main problem with Daggerfall (and Arena) is that the in-game resolution is too low. It is possible to replace artwork (in both games) but even if you could upscale the artwork, it would still look blocky. Daggerxl will run at whatever resolution you like and it looks much nicer even with the default art (try the alpha demo and see). On top of that, if you check the forums, you can see that sub-projects are already underway to replace the default art. Most of it it extremely well done especially the NPC portraits.

I think I have one or two mods on my site that aren't up anywhere else, mainly fan made quests: http://slushpool.fortunecity.com/
Also check out uesp.net and Svatopluk's site mentioned above.
