9 DIVINES VS DADERA

Post » Mon Oct 03, 2011 5:16 am

Neither, they both are detrimental to mortals.

Second post in the thread and already my opinion has been stated.

Mortals should strive to ascend their mortality themselves, not spending their time worshiping gods. Observe the gods, learn from the gods, obtain power from the gods, but don't worship, rather, walk to godhood. And take everyone with you.

Honestly, there's nothing wrong with either. But I pick Daedra, they're much more interesting.

Talos and Vivec.

Yeah, the Nordic pantheon ftw.

The nine divines. Atleast I don't have to worry about them screwing me over.

Does "eating the world" count as screwing you over? Because if it does I'd rethink that statement. Or how about blowing a fierce wind that destroys your masts or conjures a storm that kills your crops? Or a too-savvy businessman who rips you off and it takes you months to notice? Those things are all from aspects of the Divines.

True, but with the Aedra its never personal. Its just ho-hum them going about themselves doing their jobs, so to speak. With the Daedra its always personal. They love to meddle in mortal affairs.

Well, but those things are equally likely to screw you over. The floating corpses and the lords of the void are equally helpful (/harmful) to mortals, but just for different reasons.

That's why I think it's the meteors that really deserve respect. Xarxes may not be in charge of time or anything, but he was a mortal. He may be your great grandfather. He can connect with you.

That's worse. At least with Daedra you feel like they care. Even though, like the Aedra, they have no choice in the matter, but can only act as their sphere demands. Mehrunes dagon can no more go without destruction than I can go without molecules.

Does caring really make things better? If a person hits me, that's a lot worse than if I slam my head against a cabinet. I'd prefer the bad things in my life to be impersonal.

The cabinet can't take responsibility for its actions, and you can't, in any real way, take appreciable vengeance. If a person hits me, I can hit back. If I knock my own head on a stationary object, I am the only one to blame. Ergo, an effort to harm by someone who at least gives a crap about harming you is preferable.

Ok, so that's where the difference lies. I prefer it when there is no need for vengeance in the first place.
