if it was from a more reputable reviewer than it would probably have a negative impact. but who reads the Australian OPM.

But then the question rises: can you be Batman in Skyrim? ;)

Bring on the mods!
Who is stronger: Elephant or a Whale?

Depends on where they're fighting. :P

Well considering the #1 Dutch gaming magazine gave Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 a 10/10 in 2006 purely because it has what can only be described as 'huge mellons' you can't base a "Skyrim killer" on just 1 review.

Also there's a crapload of GotY awards.

I expected the next Batman to be great, so I'm not shocked it can get a 10. I can see it getting a few GOTY awards. You can't expect any game to run the table on GOTYs in a year full of AAA titles:

Portal 2
Crysis 2
RAGE
Skyrim
Batman
Deus EX
Uncharted 3
The Witcher 2
Demon Soul
StarCraft II
L.A. Noire

Arkham City isn't out. Skyrim isn't out. We haven't played either one, especially the full builds. I don't care. Skyrim will be better to me than Batman ever will. Goodbye. :disguise:

If they ever give GOTY to a game that doesn't feature an IP that was created specifically for the game the award will just become pointless.

Encouraging companies to play it safe and just rehash the same crap over and over rather than being creative would just be a giant FU to all real gamers out there.

I'll bet they'll both go GOTY as they're entirely different types of games Arkham Asylum is a fantastic game as will be its predecessor, but the total amount of game time will be far less than Skyrim even if playing both in a row. Skyrim took a lot longer to make, not to say AC will be tiny or anything. Skyrim and Arkham City will, no doubt, qualitatively be awesome. Quantitatively, however, Skyrim has the upper hand in that there is going to be so much more of it. Arkham City for PC will, at least from the onset, have an advantage graphically over Skyrim on PC as it is to utilize all the DX11 stuff, but I'm still hoping Skyrim will eventually utilize tessellation and whatnot as well. Thankfully there's enough room in this world (and my budget) for both games, but I can already guarantee I'll be spending a lot more time playing Skyrim.

It's good to be a gamer right now :) So many fantastic titles coming out...

Skyrim will most likely not be the recipient of Wingus's GOTY award. Someone should make a thread to discuss this!

Anywho, Arkham Asylum was probably the best modern superhero game I've played and Arkham City looks better in just about every way, so I'm looking forward to it. Not enough to buy it right away, but the first Steam sale.
