GFWL?!

Post » Sun Oct 02, 2011 11:53 pm

I heard Skyrim has steamworks (yay!) but I just noticed that logo at the bottom. I know Fallout 3 had GFWL if you bought it on disc (dunno what it was like if you bought it on Steam).

Does Skyrim have compulsory Games For Windows Live intergration? :/

It's Games for Windows.

Not Games for Windows Live.

AFAIK, the "Games for Windows" logo simply means it is compatible with USB Xbox controllers.

Games for Windows isn't Games for Windows Live.

GFW is a platform, like PS3, Xbox360. GFWL is a service like Steam, PSN, XBL.

"Games for Windows", that means it fulfills a set of standards set by Microsoft. It doesn't include the Live portion. Skyrim uses Steamworks for achievements and DLC.

Never did; never will.

Having to register online for offline games is stupid as hell.

Sorry to dissapoint you but the last time I got a game without paying for it was in 199X, Civilization 1 on a floppy.

GFWL : Beth :: Captain Howdy : Regan

[Max von Sydow performed an exorcism on both?]

Ugh all this silly stuff like Steam/Games for Windows Live has to be purged from the gaming industry. :(

It's not for piracy. It's for stopping used game sales.

(The pirates will break the online dependancy within a week. They beat Ubisoft's original crazy DRM that fast.)

I call it funny. Funny that the only ones punished by these ridiculous restrictions are the people buying it legally. And it pisses off so many they're actually causing more and more people to pirate that wouldnt to begin with. You must be a fan of the war on drugs too. "Its not working AT ALL? More people using? Put more time and money into it!"

What if the people that use those products actually like them and don't find the "restrictions" restrictive? Shocking isn't it?
