Marriage presents moral conundrum

Post » Mon Oct 03, 2011 6:57 pm

I'm married. I'm married to a beautiful woman. She is caring, successful, and still turns me on after all of these years of marriage. We have a child together, a beautiful 1 year old girl. My daughter and my wife make waking up and going to a [censored] job worth it. Everything is worth it for them. Our faith in eachother and our dependancy on truthfulness is why our love is bound for eternity.

So what happens when I play Skyrim? Do I wear the match.com amulet? Is that somehow cheating on my wife? I mean, I can make the choice and not wear the amulet of guaranteed nookie, but I paid $60 for the game and I want to experience all the content in Skyrim. And, with all the lessons learned in real life, why would i want my TES character to have to go through something as unnerving as marriage? Inlaws are the worst.

One final obvservation...should I sit my real wife down and have the discussion with her about how my life is just not completely fulfilled with her love alone. That I shall seek the desire of a lizard looking female with big boobs to fill this need. And what if the wife is cool with it...my question is, does this make me one step closer to becoming a Morman?

Ps. I enjoy the morman peeps. Good folks that care about family and education. No ill will or harm was meant by my post.

My Significant Other and I are going to be playing Skyrim together. You should try to get your wife interested in the game. It's a wonderful experience when you game side by side with the person you love the most.

Religious and political views are not to be discussed here, mate. Against forum rules. :spotted owl:

To answer your question, no. You should not be worried in the slightest. Skyrim is a video game. You are not cheating on your wife... That's like asking yourself if you are a criminal because you play Grand Theft Auto. :icecream:

Unless, of course, your wife is one of those people that get jealous over pixels and would rage on you for marrying someone in Fable. Then I'd just stay clear of the marriage system to avoid such a silly argument.

Um... no to all? Hilarious, and sad if you think that way, but I think you're over-thinking it. It's a game, not real life. Don't make it into real life.

If you have difficulties distinguishing harmless fantasy from advlterous reality, or if the depth of relationships in Skyrim compares at all to the depth of the relationship with your RL partner, then you have big problems that have nothing to do with the game.

Do you feel this conflicted about killing people and animals in games as well? If so, then you should stick to games that don't model reality, such as Tetris.

Real mormons are monogamous, incidentally.

 I am sorry, I know you're trying to be serious but this whole post just cracked me up. The Match.com Amulet? Guess you could also call it the eHarmony Amulet, lol.

Anyway. I told my fiancee' about this feature in the game and she's fine with it. It is a game. I don't want to be flamed for this, because I know some people here take it seriously enough that it's like real life, but at the end of the day it is a game. Tell your wife about this feature and remind her that it's a game, it's not real, and does not mean anything and does not change how you feel about her. I am certain that she will understand and be perfectly fine with it.

What if the NPC starts getting jealous that you spend more time with your wife than he does? Next thing you know he's short sheeting the bed with your horse's head buried beneath the sheets. Rumors emerge, mysteriously, about your lack ability of acrobatics in the sack. And to think, all that time you spent spam-jumping so that you could be the best acrobat in all the world, gone, because of one jealous NPCer.

I don't know about you, but that scares me.

Gee, I dunno, my wife likes me to be out of her hair, oh...so many hours a day...and she is definitely not a gamer.
