I do not get this game. (Nothing new with that ) Nothing seems to heal the character except stimpacks and doctors. What do you use to heal you and how does this work. Can you, like Fallout, get addicted?

Weapons are another matter. How does the weapon system work. I am so far in the Goodsprings area and the only powerful weapon I have found is the 9mm pistol which does not make sense. The Cowboy repeater svcks (could not even do serious damage to Bark scorpion, the 9mm pistol could), as with the single shot gun, the Varmint rifle, 10mm submachine gun. When do you start getting something that you can survive with?

I have read http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas no help there, yet. Any help would be appreciated.
