Ok, so I know you cannot harm a child and I am totally for that 100%. However I was also think, what if you sit there and try to steal something from someone with a child around. Only 3 people, you the child and the person being stolen from. The person being stolen from finds out you are stealing from him then goes to try to alert the guard. You kill him so as to eliminate all the witnesses but that still leaves the child which cannot be harmed but is still a witness. I don't want to harm the child and even if given the freedom to hurt them I wouldn't because it just isn't right but how is this problem solved?
