The New (GRA) Tri-Beam Laser Rifle. Best Energy Weapon Ever?

Post » Wed Oct 05, 2011 2:50 pm

It took me awhile to realize that there are 3 mods for the GRA Tri-Beam Laser Rifle:

- Increases weapon condition by 200%

- Increases damage by 3 per beam

- Increases ammunition by 24

I've actually decided to make an Energy Weapons Trooper build based on this alone. Before the DLC's came out, the Tri-Beam Laser Rifle was my signature weapon and with these modifications + max charged cells + Laser Commander + Raul's Full Maintenaince perk + Drugs...lots of drugs, especially Turbo and Implant GRX. I can't see how anything can possibly stand in my way.

As an EW-only user, I think its a huge and well deserved improvement over the previous Tri-beam laser, which was a pathetic joke to be honest. Its balanced now.

Though I wish they had shown same interest to the Multiplas, its just not possible to use a weapon with 50 health.

It is if you are doing it right. Elijah's Advanced LAER lasted me through Lonesome Road and I only needed to pop 2 weapon repair kits half way through the DLC and 2 during the fight with/against Ulysses.

According to the Vault:

"Microfusion cell, optimized
Added in the add-on Gun Runners' Arsenal, this sub-type causes 30% more damage, penetrates armor more effectively, and weighs less than the standard microfusion cell. The only drawback is a slight increase in weapon degradation. It requires Vigilant Recycler and can only be crafted at a workbench."

So I can actually play an energy weapons trooper in hardcoe mode now.

No offense intended but the Ellijah's LAER is a total joke of a weapon. Now I know you didn't use that weapon exclusively throughout the DLC, because 4 weapon repair kits in that length of time is impossable. It must have meant you fired like 9 shots the whole DLC.

Lol, playing on normal, using normal and bulk rounds, getting in head shots, crits, sneak crits whenever I can, plus it a short DLC, and high repair skill. You are correct I didn't use it exclusively, I did switch to the Tesla Baeton Prototype at the high road with the death claws, but the LAER did last me for the rest of the DLC . If I was using Max/Over charged cells for some weird reason your assumption might hold some water.
