Are you a True Nord?

Post » Wed Oct 05, 2011 7:17 pm

I play several characters always. I played a Dunmer in Morrowind, and a Imperial in Oblivion, it just feels right to play them.

I have no idea what I'm playing in Skyrim, but I'm leaning towards a Nord Spellsword, but I won't know until the character creation screen is in front of me.

Yeah. With Oblivion I don't think it matters at all but with Morrowind, the Nerevarine would have be a Dark Elf. Doesn't make any sense to have a Dunmer hero/prophet guy not actually be a Dunmer. Same goes for Skyrim. The shouts are a purely Nordic ability. And as far as I know, so is being a DK.

Just the way they story/prophecy/element/setting of the game is. Morrowind and Skyrim both have their "special" races that, when you think about it, are the only ones the make sense for the setting.

In regards to this, the gods may have a sense of irony by sending a Argonian Nerevarine. That being said, it doesn't exactly impact the overall idea, as the dragon shouts and the one the Nords employed were two separate things if I recall.

i really loved it in morrowind when a wounded nord would yell what sounded like (...ARRRmm) allways thought of them as the
(" Viking Type, Sailing the high seas and came to morrowind to plunder her goods")
i will play a Dark Elf as allways in skyrim
but to claim myelf as a true Nord? no .. this would be reserved for the Vikings in my opinion

I've played all races, but I'm more of a fan of Bosmer and Breton for the stock races, and for modded races, various more-human-looking varieties of Khajiit (Kawa Khajiit, Tabaxi, Ainmhi, etc) as well as various elven races (Mystic/Hidden elf, as well as my own take on Night Elves from Warcraft lore) and I've even made a few odd races of my own, though using assets made by others rather than my own, since I have no 3D modeling skill. I did make the texture for one race, sort of a marble golem race.

I've seen that comic before. Very amusing. But I'm content to freeze my tail off than be some smelly Nord. *turns up nose*

My first ever character in Morrowind, and my first go att the elder scrolls series was a nord. It was a long and painful journey att first, not knowing how the world worked. But me and my nord got through it and I loved the game after some time getting used to it. I simply got dragged into the deep lore, quests, and all the items. When Bloodmoon came out and I went there with my nord, its was meant to be. Seing the meadhall of thirsk, visiting the Skaal's doing the quests and so on, it made an impact on me. So yeah, when Oblivion came out I startet out as a nord again, but Oblivion was nothing of what I had hoped it would be. Not even beards for my nord xD so when skyrim was announced I was att first very critical. But I played fallout 3 allot, and I found that game to have a certain "true" feeling to it, like in morrowind, exploring was fun again :D so now Im hyped for skyrim, and looking forward to play as a true nord once again :)

ps: im also 100% norwegian, so it makes me proud to be a nord in Skyrim, walking a fantasy land that looks very much like norway att some places :D

Nords are only smelly if they have bad hygine habits... I use Old Spice, therefore, that problem is nullified. :P

I like Nords, but my favorite Race is Bosmer, and I try to play at least one of each Race eventually, so am I a "True Nord"? No, they are a fictional Race in a game. Nor am I Norwegian, etc. in real life.

Peace, +Petrose
