I play several characters always. I played a Dunmer in Morrowind, and a Imperial in Oblivion, it just feels right to play them.
I have no idea what I'm playing in Skyrim, but I'm leaning towards a Nord Spellsword, but I won't know until the character creation screen is in front of me.

Yeah. With Oblivion I don't think it matters at all but with Morrowind, the Nerevarine would have be a Dark Elf. Doesn't make any sense to have a Dunmer hero/prophet guy not actually be a Dunmer. Same goes for Skyrim. The shouts are a purely Nordic ability. And as far as I know, so is being a DK.
Just the way they story/prophecy/element/setting of the game is. Morrowind and Skyrim both have their "special" races that, when you think about it, are the only ones the make sense for the setting.
