Will the main story be really short?

I think the main quests will be long. OR there isn't an achievement for every main quest.

This post makes no sense, since when did having an achievements for every quests have anything to do with Call of Duty? You do realise that every one of Oblivion's achievements were quest related and all of Fallout 3's quests had achievements to go with them, right?

Well, you see...this thread isn't possitive. Thusly, it must be the most negative thing imaginable which will lead the op to not buy the game and because of that it was quickly dubbed heresy - on the same level of being a Cod fan in the gaming world. That's how the connection was made.

I honestly spend the vast majority of my time playing side stuff.

I would not worry, just because it was confirmed to be 30+ hours doesn't mean a butt load of MQ missions, just really long ones.

The achievement list includes achievements for completing 14 quests, not 8. The first 8 listed are quests, but there are 6 more throughout the list.

I'm hoping it's around 30-50 hours long. 15-20 hours would be too short, and anything more than 50 hours would probably be too much for a game that isn't really supposed to be about the main storyline.

Also, those achievements svck.

So either the quests are really long, or the main quest is really short. Is anyone else concearned?

My only concern is that the story might be boring or rushed liked it was in Oblivion. I liked how it was in Morrowind, where the Main quest actually encouraged you to go and do some freelance work on your own while the relevant npc did his own thing; it broke up the main story into episodes, thus allowing a steady progression of anticipation. It also showed you the rewarding depth of higher levels and the powers that come with it. In Oblivion, leveling up granted you clown armor, with no depth to your skills, because all your opponents leveled up with you. Your skills were redundant, because you could complete the Main quest at level 1-5. LMAO

I would actually rather a short MQ, shorter than Oblivion.

It makes it better for RP purposes if you just want to get through the MQ to RP a certain type of character.

POSSIBLE SPOILER AHEAD (Though really just speculation on my part):

For example, let's say this Ulfric Stormcloak becomes high king at the end of the rebel questline. Now, you want to create a different character from your 1st one, in order to RP as a knight. Well, the faster you can get through the MQ, the sooner you can RP the character you want to play and forget about the MQ.

Another example: Let's say you want to create a ruthless, power hungry sorcerer-king who takes over Skyrim after Alduin. Well, the sooner you can destroy Alduin, the sooner you can have a world that is ripe for the taking. I don't know. Perhaps this isn't such a great example, 'cause for this, I can RP like it's all over.

END SPOILERS

But you see my point: If you are big on RPing, and it makes it a bit easier on the imagination for some character types after the MQ is done with, and current world events are more in your favor, then I'd rather a short MQ. Of course, then, you'd have to level up to beat Alduin, OR find a way to cheat through chameleon enchantments or something, but that's a different story.

But, in conclusion, I think shorter MQ are better for those who like RPing other characters.

The game is going to be 20-30 hours. Confirmed by Pete Hines. Who cares how many "quest" that will be lol..? It's 20-30 hours regardless.

No.

The amount of achievements available does not directly correlate to the length of the story.

Really, why would there be achievements for nearly all main-story actions? Acheivements should be something that you "achieve."

You want to get an uber cool achievement for delivering bread to Esbern, or other mundane tasks/minor quest?

That definately worried me when I saw it. I'm just hoping each quest is very long and involved.

You can't judge the length of the main quest by these achievements, really. Furthermore, there will be so much other stuff to do in Skyrim; No way the main quest is any important for playing the game, really.

All of Oblivions Achievements were quest-related

Skyrim has some miscellaneous achievements which I prefer

This also means that you wont be getting an achievement everytime u finish a major quest in the MQ and guilds

No bearing on the length of the guilds and mainQuest can be ascertained by the achievements

Really?

I just checked my Steam, and there are no achievements available for Fallout.

New Vegas has achievements on Steam, Fallout 3's are through GFWL. But it had plenty of them.

how about, instead of playing straight through the main quest, you actually play Side Quest, explore, do dungeons, and all together play the game instead of rushing it.

There were only 6 achievements related to the main quest in Oblivion even though there were actually 17 quests in game. There are 8 achievements related to the main quest in Skyrim, so that is actually starting ahead. One can only assume there are more than 8 quests, and if there aren't they are probably just longer and less broken up than in Oblivion.

I would be more nervous about having only 3 achievements for each guild while in Oblivion there were 7-8. In reality in Oblivion there were 20-30 quests for each guild though, so hopefully there is about the same in Skyrim.

I am expecting there to be roughly the same if not more quests and playtime in Skyrim as in Oblivion, and I logged 750+ hours in Oblivion and never even ended up finishing the main quest.
