I'm going back and forth between these three:
A. overcharged destruction, with alteration buffs before going in
Good at short & long range, never run out of arrows, lots of damage, magey goodness
B. 1-handed melee backed up by destruction spells in the other hand and possibly poison on the blade
Mageey goodness, but less of a slave to magicka, and not crippled by foes with resistances / immunities to my magic
But lately I been thinking more and more of:
C. archery, using poisoned arrows, with an occasional break to summon critters to distract the enemies
Only a little magey in combat, highly dependent upon arrows, retains full damage against anyone vulnerable to poison & summons, decent damage to those resistant or immune to either poisons or summons, and potentially able to benefit from sneak attack multipliers if I add in stealth
The downside is vulnerability to stupid summoned critter AI, poor battlefield layout, and poison resistance / immunity.
