Disintegration (minor spoliers)

Post » Wed Oct 05, 2011 5:41 pm

In Oblivion disintegration worked the same way as using a piece of equipment, with it's quality and stats being lowered until they finally got useless and not use-able.

Since I suppose the disintegrate spell will make a comeback in Skyrim (as the shock perk tree has the 'disintegrate when enemy's health is below 10%), but the quality of an item is completely removed from the game, I was wondering if the disintegration even works somewhat the same as it did in Oblivion.

If you have to use disintegration several times, before a piece of equipment is rendered useless, without lowering its stats, I find the shock perk more or less completely useless, as the enemy most likely will be dead before the actual perk makes any difference.
If disintegrate instead does have a impact on the equiment every time it is used, it must be seen as a timed effect, as there otherwise is no way of restoring the quality of the item, as repairing only enhances equipment (and not restoring).

Hope you understood all of that, I'm a bit muddle-headed today.

It's my first post, so try not to burn me too much, will you.

I took it to mean 'disintegrate' as in the same way a crit hit from a laser does in Fallout. I.e., disintegrates the person. If their health is below 10% and it's a shock spell it fits.

The perk might mean it disintegrates the enemy rather than their items. Breaking their stuff probably wouldn't be that useful once you've already gotten them down to 10% health.

The perk is not about equipment desintegration, it's about people desintegration. Basically, you cast a shock spell against somebody and, if this somebody's health is low enough and you got the perk, you vaporize him.

Edit: ninja'd!

Never played Fallout 3, might try it. But does this mean that the whole disintegration of equipment won't show up in Skyrim and that it's whole function will be replaced with some sort of damage health effect?
Kinda figured disintegrate would have a similar function as it did in Oblivion... Never really used it, so not having it wouldn't really matter to me.

Could be that it temporarily lowers the damage or armor rating of said item.
