Will Skyrim use the kinect interface ?

Post » Thu Oct 06, 2011 2:32 am

Hi all,
I haven't read any thread about a possible kinect interface for Skyrim. Probably the reason is because it'll never happen and that might close this topic rather fast. But, just thinking about how you could dodge, parry, block, strike, cast spells with that kind of interface seems intense ! Wow, you'd really feel and live Skyrim !
On a funny side note, that idea crossed my mind this morning while I was reading the now locked post about the wii version of Skyrim - which will never happen but it made me laugh a good deal, just imagining how I could choose my character among my horde of Miis. Anyway, if the wii won't run Skyrim, at least it brough the current gen consoles one step beyond the pad. Hence, my idea about the kinect interface for Skyrim. Just wanted to share and know if the subject was already dealt.

I'm not going to walk around my room pretending I'm making my way through a full blown blizzard.

They won't, it's been confirmed for a long while now, they'll be no Kinect or Move support. Bethesda apparently aren't fans of motion control and with a multiplatform game like this, it'd been them having to devote time and resources to one particular platform.

With all the buttons you need to play the game, I don't think so.

I would imagine a game needs to be coded from the beginning to take advantage of or best use technology like this. Since this game has been in development for 3 years before the Kinect was even announced and it only came out last year in the 4 year of the game's development, there is no way that they would add in support at this point.

Besides, if I wanted to run around flailing my arms, I would not be playing a video game.

Now, someday, maybe, it would be cool to have this kind of control system, but not at the expense of the game itself.

Sounds fun though. I have just pictured myself sneaking at the monitor and stabbing it from behind.

At least that requires flailing with precision. :P
