Broken armor

Post » Thu Oct 06, 2011 9:32 pm

So i've been wondering for a little while about how repairing broken armor will work. this time around, when a piece of armor gets degraded all the way to (zero) will it become unusable? basically trash that can't be fixed?

No weapon and armor degrading, but you can create and enhance weapons and armors with the smithing skill.

And those enhancements require resources and wear off over time, so it's kind of in the same vein as degradation.

Wait, this is news to me!

I kind of frowned when I learned there is no degrading of armor or weapons, or anything. That's not realistic at all..

The degradation of weapons and armor in MW and OB wasn't all that realistic either. MW was a little more realistic in that lower armorer skill meant that repairing reduced the maximum health of the item but at high skill it was just as unrealistic as OB. The application of the same exact system of degradation across all item types is likely the most unrealistic aspect.

I would maybe have a hybrid of the old system and the new so it worked in stages like it does now but made it so items still broke eventually and permanently. Can't say for sure without playing though because we don't have all of the data necessary to make such an anolysis.

I like the change. If repairing was more involved than just spamming buttons I would have missed it.

Just because you didn't know something that other people did doesn't make you a dumbnut. Maybe you don't read the forums every day like the rest of us losers... I mean, enthusiasts.

Well cool :)
This is news to me and I'm sure I'll get along just fine without weapon/armor degrading. Plus I won't need to carry around so many repair hammers that weigh 1lb each - that adds up you know

And yet banging a wooden bow with a hammer somehow fixing it is more realistic?
