...interesting. Care to translate to "dumb illiterate users like me-ish"?

Have you ever seen Saving Private Ryan? The Normandy landing scene was filmed at a very high shutter speed to enhance the combat scene, something like 1/200s, whereas most movies are filmed at 1/48s. In photography it's the exposure time for the still image, while in cinematography it's the exposure time of the single frame. Low speeds = smooth movements and blurried frames, medium speeds = sharp and clear frames, high speeds = sharp and clear frames plus heavy strobing effect, which is roughly comparable to the stuttering you experience in low-fps videogames. Most people are unaware of this but this is what helps you tell a movie from a newscast. In videogames there is no such thing as a shutter speed to adjust, each frame is always crystal clear [that's why you can always take clear screenshots even in heavily animated scenes], so there's no smoothness introduced by blurried frames [as long as you don't use a motion blur shader], hence the framerate needs to be way higher than a movie's for the game to be actually smooth. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shutter_speed and watch the animated gif a the top right of the page.

I can tolerate 25fps if it's stable. I like to average around 30 at high-fidelity. My personal "Favorite" FPS is 48 or higher though. when you breach the 48frames per second threshold, everything is incredibly fluid.

Depending on the genre, I can tolerate as low as 12Frames per second, but said Genre is Real Time Strategy. As long as the interface remains operable, I don't find my enjoyment dampened.

I was about to say so....2560x1600 is a serious res, maybe too much even for a single GTX 570.

But the GTX 5xx are some beasts of a cards, so maybe you won't need it :)
*knock on wood* If not smooth enough on the 30", I'll just use the 20" as Monitor #1 until I can get a SLI MoBo with more RAM capacity (24 or 32GB) for a RAMDisks and a second 570.

My ideal is 60 but ill tolerate anything as low as 30. If my framerate ever sinks below 30 at any point then I turn down the settings because its just awful.

GTX 4XX are beasts too, especially for the price :P I'm getting 60 FPS with V-Sync on in RAGE @ 1680x1050. Not bad for a $140 card :P

My specs are in my signature, I'm hoping for about 35-40+ FPS at max settings 1080p. As long as it doesn't drop below 25-30ish I'll be happy.

Yuck anything below 60 is unacceptable. I strive for about 80 fps. I got that with Oblivion with mods soo, Skyrim will hopefully run at 60.

I am running a AMD 5600 X2 2.6GHz+, 4GB DDR2 800Mhz, AMD Radeon 3870 512Mb and usually at 1080p where possible.

I am not hoping for much, although to be fair..I can run BF3 OB at lowest settings @ 1080p fairly comfortably...

24-30 is fine with me. Anything under 24 is unacceptable. And considering that the vast majority of humans can not tell the difference between 30 and 60 FPS, myself included, 30 FPS is just about perfect for me. Honestly in my opionion anything over 30 FPS is just overkill and I find it a bit hard to believe that anyone can see a difference between 30 and 60 FPS. Im not saying its impossable though.

I'm hoping (and fairly confident) I won't notice a thing. Otherwise my 1200 bucks was for nothing :)

i7-2600
ASUS 6850 1GB
16GB RAM (granted it'll use squat with a 32bit app)

on a 720P 40" TV... should be better than my normal eyesight at that low res :D

Preferably 60. Anything around 30 and higher is fine by me. Below 25 is where I start getting irritated.

How did you get an AMD "Bulldozer" FX Model 8150? :P Is it good? I plan on replacing my C2Q Q8300 (3 years old now) with either a FX-8120 or FX-8150, but I thought they haven't come out yet 0.o

25 fps and up is good for me. Anything below that and it starts to annoy me. But somehow I managed to put over 100 hours into Oblivion years ago on my old pc and I was getting 10-15 fps in outdoor areas with drops into the single digits when enemies came along. I guess the reason I put up with that terrible performance was because I didn't have the money to get a new pc or buy a 360 but I absolutely had to play Oblivion. :tes:

30FPS...If I'm running more than that, than I don't have enough mods installed!

I usually tweak my graphical settings to give me an average of 30fps. It can dip down to 20 but no lower and not for long.
