Major Flaw between marriages

Post » Fri Oct 07, 2011 1:34 pm

So far, I find this an additional perk for pro RPers. Would be great if it weren't for one thing. How the hell are you going to differentiate between an Imperial and a Breton?

Let's take this for an example: My Imperial thief wants to marry another Imperial so he doesn't feel like a wierdass. In a bar, he finds 2 young girls in their early 20s, an Imperial and a Breton.

Now unless Bethesda makes Imperials' voices strictly American and Bretons' voices strictly French (which 11 times out of 10 they won't), there is no way to tell.

Breton women have rounder faces.

Unfortunately, that is a really minor detail, and I'm sure NPCs will have vast appearances.

They look different. Sort of. It's not weird for Bretons to marry Imperials since they are both of the race of men. It's really a general culture. It would be like saying ti was weird for an American from Maine to marry an American from Texas. Its not weird its just plain normal.

This is not a "major flaw" imo.
They aren`t that similar. I think you are overly pessimistic.

Well... Bretons are already mixed... might at well keep it going. That's my plan. I'll be fine with anything that's not an argonian. :D

Compare the two races side by side. It's pretty obvious.

You missed the part where he mentioned this is for RPers. Some people care about this sort of thing.

Who honestly cares about race? (as long as they look simmilar, eat the same things, speek the same languages, worship the same gods...)

If your character is that obsessed with pure bloodlines, I'm afraid they'll have to investigate, just as they would in real-life. You're not going to walk into a bar and automatically differentiate between your French, German, and Scottish females. Why should you be able to instantly tell between similar races in Tamriel?

Why would anyone marry an Imperial or a Breton when there's hot, hot Argonian maids to chase?

Yeahh, I would most probably play a male Khajiit... and when the time comes marry a Nord, Breaton or Imperial. I`m all for interspecies relationships

Edit: Nord, Breton or Imperial woman that is :)

The solution is simple; all Bretons must wear a yellow star on theyre chest, so that the pure man can tell them apart.

Comparing the race presets images, they look much easier to distinguish compared with the Bretons and Imperials in Oblivion.

i'll spare you the whole "race doesnt matter" shtick and just say... in real life can you really go up to 2 girls and immediately tell which one is german and which one is austrian? like any race bretons and imperials have their own tendencies in facial structure, but also like any race there are countless individual differences and it isnt always obvious who is what race.

if your going to RP some pure-blood obsessed inbreeding noble or something, than you can always just go into the creation kit and see what race they are, or look it up on UESP if you really have to.
