Duel wielders rejoice!

Post » Fri Oct 07, 2011 5:18 pm

I read in my magazine (pc gamer December) that duel wielders can power attack with both weapons at the same time and also do attacks really fast with both weapons as a sort of "Blender move". It didn't say whether or not the flurry move required a perk but i would guess that it does.

Seeing as poisons last longer on weapons now and enchanting is its own skill and can therefore be dramatically improved it looks like duel wielding will be top dog when it comes to damage and so blocking while duel wielding really would be overpowered.

Also:
- some enemies will try and flank you.
- you can choose when to level up. So you can choose to level up during a fight and your health will regen. (like a potion)
- weather can affect your ability to see.
- you can find places to mine out in the wilderness. So not just in caves.

There was more info but that's the good stuff.

Dual wielding will be amazing!

I think so too, I might give it a whirl, I prefer the 2H almighty swing but with duel wielding I might just have to switch it up.
PS I love what they siad about weather effecting vision, too many games it's just another pixel, it's nice they have made it hinder our ability to see long distance GJ Beth :foodndrink:

here we sit.

complaining about a game that hasn't even been released yet.

at least we can teach Bethesda that a large and vocal percentage of their community isn't happy unless it's unhappy.

which means we're crazy and they shouldn't listen to us.

such is life. and so it goes.

I'm not too worried about not being able to block whilst dual-wielding. Thats what wearing armor is for anyway!
Ever since Skyrim was announced, I was dead-set on DUAL-WIELDING!

Uh...wouldn't you?!

You must be one of thos "Might Versus Light" people. You'd rather an extra gun over a flashlight attachment? Ever fight the Flood in the Library on Halo:CE?

Here's what I wrote in another thread:

Watch the quakecon demo, Todd blocks 2 hits while dual wielding (parries) when fighting that bandit in the cave. You can hear the metal clang twice and the left sword dips down in the middle of the screen a couple times. I think control wise you just attack after they begin their swing and it plays that parry animation instead of swing animation. So you can't block, but you can parry which is the exact same thing, but it doesn't have "block perks". You can deflect incoming damage.

It makes sense too, naturally someone uses left hand for block (prior elder scrolls games), so Todds reflexes would be tuned to block with left and attack with right.

In other parts when the bandit is NOT attacking, Todds left hand swings the sword differently. So there are two separate left handed animations I see, and the one totally looks like a block/parry animation.

To further my point, look at the official video, in part 1 at 3:28. It looks like a parry to me with the right sword. No blood flies and its a more metallic sound being played at that moment, and the shield is put away. Also Todd takes NO damage on that impact!

To me this looks like you can parry. Why?
Enemies swing at the player, we hear a CLANG sound, the sword moves diagonally in front of the player in a defensive position, AND the player takes no damage. If it's not parry, then wtf is it?

I think Pete said you can't block while dual wielding because block is a whole other perk system. But you can deflect damage (parry) if you swing your sword at the right moment when the enemy is attacking.

This power attack is actually old news. Not sure why people have ignored that fact. But I'm glad to see some people are catching up.

The right sword didn't do anything, he blocked with the shield and quickly switched to the Frostbite spell. The metallic sound you heard was the same as when he blocked the first time.
