Severe FPS drop on Crossfire 6950s

Hi guys,

I kinda ruled out a hardware problem (been through all kinds of help, forums friends and I am usually they guy people ask for help :) )so maybe somebody here knows:

I am running Crysis 2 on 6950s 1gb (more trying to...) and the fps goes to single digits. It runs at the expected 20+ with crossfire disabled

The system (i5, 8gb, proper 850w power bla bla...) performs well with all sorts of benchmarks and other games (Metro 2033 40+ in DX11 for example). On all other application the performance increase with crossfire is evident (FurMark goes from 31fps to 59) and both cards stay in acceptable temp range. I have examined all sorts of hardware issues despite it being unlikely.

I tried all sorts of 11.x drivers with no success. I had roughly the same performance as in single card mode when I used 10.x drivers and presume this is due to them being older than the card.

It has to be noted that the Crysis 1 engine (Crysis and Warhead) show the same problems. The game runs super smooth in single card mode and goes to circa 15fps in crossfire.

Any more suggestions on this subject would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Gips

Nvidia warned you with their pub on Crysis2 opening. This is what you get.
