Every Game Should Have Bosses

Post » Sat Oct 08, 2011 3:07 pm

So bosses have been in games since the beginning of gaming basically. Now we know that there is Alduin, as the main boss. We also know that the dragons will be like the boss creature. Will there be dragons bigger than other ones, making dragons feel like semi-bosses? What about dungeons? Wouldn't it be better if in every dungeon there would be a boss guarding the main dungeon's treasure? Like a massive troll, bigger than other trolls, like a big powerful hulking draugr with a huge viking spiky viking shield and helmet? You know, I would like these kind of mini-boss creatures that are very rare but when you encounter one you know you're up for a massive battle.

Dragons are supposed to be difficult to take down so your hopes are most likely correct with dragons.

Boss battles aren't really done well in TES, as far as I can tell.

It's always been a matter of ramping up the stats of the boss, giving him some spells, and then calling it a day.

Yeah. What I'd like to see is unique bosses EXCLUSIVELY in quests and give you a one-time experience in a playthrough. Like you know a quest where a village is terrorized by a big famous troll mini-boss in a cave near the village and you are supposed to get rid of that troll once and for all and it won't spawn. The mini-boss should be given a name too like "Drig, The Child Eater" or something.

The other types of mini-bosses that I would like to see is those bosses that are just a bigger version of other same creatures but they don't have a name and they spawn like other creatures but only in said dungeon or place. Like Alpha Wolf instead of Wolf. If you know what I mean.

do you want a mini boss in every dungeon, or just for them to be on special or unique occasions? i would prefer the latter. Also note that in the demo, Todd directly refers to the dragon-priest Frost atronach duo as being "mini-bosses" of the dungeon.

I think that's a cool idea, though I don't think every dungeon should have one of either variety. Doing it everywhere would get repetitive rather quickly.

So, basically Legendary Creatures from New Vegas? They were just ramped up stats, but they were hard to kill. I guess you're saying that you just want to be able to kill a big thing and then celebrate killing it, because it was big and bad. I get you, I think.
