Cut-scene renderer?

Post » Sat Oct 08, 2011 10:19 am

Not sure if this has been discussed yet, so I figured I'd see what you all think.

Ok, so. the basic point of this thread is this: Remember the trailer released after the announcement trailer? where Dovahkiin fights the dragon? If not, well then http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjqsYzBrP-M

My thought is... do you think with the creation kit, there will be any sort of first-person or otherwise cut-scene editor? Sort of like the First person cinematics in like, crysis? I think it could add some pretty cool possibilities with the creation kit.

Like, in a cinematic, the player runs like heck from a pair of dragon,s after being stripped of all gear. He could trip over a rock, flip over, and watch as the dragon flies down, and grabs him in its talons. then tosses him aside, and the player falls into a fissure, where he passes out.

What do you think of the idea? Would it be cool? Would it be a poor design idea?

discuss.

That would be so awesome, although I don't expect it. I also imagine it would be kind of difficult to make something that looks good.

It appears that Skyrim has a cinematic tool. (How they did the dragon fight trailer)

Sounds good. Not sure if it would happen though, people would probably do it, and well.

Yes, but, will we have access to it?

Would be nice. I'd actually like to have a cinematic sequence like they have when he abruptly stops at the cliff, his hands fly up to steady himself.

I actually thought that would happen if we sprinted into a sharp incline, what with all of the 100% in-game boasts from Pete.

Do you think pete hines could answer this question? Or is he pretty tight-lipped about the creation kit?

Which, in this case, only means rendered within the game engine.

Hopefully that doesn't happen. If I want to run and jump off a cliff, let me run and jump off a cliff uninterrupted.

I think he meant in a cut-scene.

You could still easily do it by jumping just before you reached the edge.

Just like how Rockstar does things Skyrim was all in-game, bugs and some less than noteworthy textures included.

Though obviously the people in charge of this used tools to give a cinematic perspective and views. Kind of the point of a trailer without giving the whole game away like all the important scenes ala Mass Effect 2 trailer.

Fully open world designed games like TES don't do cut scenes native or built by hand nor ala CGI therwise other than game beginnings and endings. It's not The Witcher, Mass Effect, or even Deus Ex 1/ Human Revolution in terms of that. Specificly because there are no cut scenes but organic transitions/static screen transitions.

I just meant, the system would register you coming to an abrupt stop and also recognizing being near a cliff and give
the stutter/stop animation for that action.

If you wanted to jump, the animation wouldn't happen, because you wouldn't be pressing the 'walk backwards' button after you sprint.

That's technically true. You can sprint, fight dragons, and shout. However, each of those things as shown in the trailer will look different in-game.
