Please help! What mod is obliterating my FPS?

Post » Sun Oct 09, 2011 12:05 am

Hey guys so recently I installed QTP3 along with FCOM to come to the conclusion that in all major cities when more than 1 NPC is on the screen my fps dips down to 15ish, no matter what gfx settings are on. I am pretty certain it's a script or something from one of these mods that's making it lag, because when no NPCs are around it works perfectly.

phenom quad core 945 @ 3.4
4gb ram
gtx 560 ti @ 1000mhz

Here is my load order, any help is appreciated. I'll DO ANYTHING!! lol. :intergalactic:

If I recall correctly, these might be impacting on FPS:

IWR-Lights.esp
IWR-Windows.esp
IWR-Shutters.esp

Also, anything that adds NPCs or creatures... or does anything overly taxing with their AI, perhaps. I suppose FCOM could be contributing here.

Lastly, it is possible that you have overloaded your graphic card's VRAM. If so, that could be something to do with it. Are you using a whole bunch of hi-resolution replacers? Other than QTP3, that is.

Hi arafel!

Well I disabled IWR and installed quiet feet and rebuilt a merged patch and that seemed to eliminate the stuttering problem, even in the daytime! Getting a steady 45-50 at the market district with 5+ npcs on screen. Thanks so much, you have magical powers of healing.

If you'd still like to get the illuminated window effect, you should grab Animated Window Lighting System. No impact on FPS and has the major bonus of being compatible with any mod that makes use of the standard buildings.

Check VRAM usage while in cities just in case.
