will skyrim look as good on my xbox?

Post » Sun Oct 09, 2011 4:10 am

OK so I can't play computer games on this laptop the one i could play them on had some stupid screen malfunction that is unfixable :/. So I have to play it on my xbox (i am not forking out the price of a ps3) and i can't afford another computer at the moment. The three part Demo is Xbox and it looks really good :) but i downloaded in onto my Xbox and it doesn't look as good sometimes it looks almost as good but not quite as good and quite a bit darker. Now i think this is because of my [censored] tv as my xbox is relativity new. I can't afford another tv either I could try the bigger tv if i can be bothered to lug that into my room but that's not a HD tv either i think it's slightly better though.

I am not too fussed about amazing quality but i am worried it will look [censored]. I will probably by a pc version when i can afford a new computer anyway as the graphics on that will always be allot better plus there will be mods.

If you want to wait until you can buy a high end computer that's fine.
I'm a PC game but if I only had a laptop I would get it for Xbox/PS3 if I had one.

I don't believe the video on XBL is HD, so it will most likely look better than that. Don't expect to have graphics anywhere near as decent as a high end computer though. It will look amazing either way though.

It won't look as good as the pc but it will still be beautiful and you can do what some other people do buy it on the console first then a year or two later (when its cheaper) buy it on the pc so when you do get it you will not only have sweet graphics quite a few mods will be out. Your choice through some people would rather buy a new game then buy the same one for a different platform

I'm getting it for xbox and no complaints, by the time Christmas comes I should have enough money to buy a high end laptop but I can wait.

I am hoping that it's just because my tv always seems to play everything on a dark setting and i will need to adjust the brightness and then it will look ok but thx guys this is makeing me feel a bit better about this it looks so good online just not as good on live.

and i probably will buy it again as i did with oblivion so that i could play shivering isles and use mods

No, it's not going to look as good as the PC version.

However, most of the promo material so far has been from the Xbox version, so that should give a pretty good baseline.

You gave a reason unrelated to Skyrim as to why it looked bad and you came up with a solution to your problem all in the OP.

yeah kinda i just wondered if anyone knew anything that would help

for example someone said they thought the demo's on like weren't in HD so the game may look better than the demo on xbox live not the net

I havent seen the videos yet (trying to leave as much of the game as a surprise as possible) but they probably are not presented in HD and they would be compressed heavily in order to be streamed. Compression will usually take some of the quality out of the videos.

It doesn't cause texture pop in or low grass draw distance though.

That has nothing to do with what the OP was talking about. - Nor does this of course but lets not turn this thread into anything more than it needs to be.

Skyrim has been properly optimized for each platform according. So naturally, the PC will look the nicest (as always), then PS3 and finally Xbox in last place. The differences between the PS3 and Xbox will be incredibly miniscule, and regardless the game will look gorgeous despite your platform so don't worry. I'll personally be playing on Xbox on the release date until I build my new PC :)
