Fast Travel No - No's?

Post » Sat Oct 08, 2011 11:18 pm

Curious if there are any quests we shouldn't fast travel while completing. You may remember that an NPC would possibly be killed if we fast traveled to a city. Any news on something like that?

Nope, as Altmer says because of that we couldn't tell you.

Also to potential people, as this isn't really a topic about fast travel itself let's not flame or do a fast travel vs walk everywhere/built in travel options. Otherwise I know it will happen. So let's remain civil.

HEY SOMETIMES MY LIFE FORCES ME TO FAST TRAVEL! I WISH I WAS STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL AND HAD ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD TO PRANCE ACROSS SKYRIM! *ARGUE ARGUE FLAME FLAME*

But seriously I think that would be interesting if there were a couple quests that required you physically traveling there. Preferably earlier in the game since thats typically when most people dont use fast travel.

I'm old school Morrowind, so no fast travel for me-it just means that my play through's will be much, much, much longer. And no compass points!

I don't know what NPC you're talking about - is it that Orc that falls off the bridge every now and then? Because I think that counts as a bug/glitch, and wouldn't be something that they would announce. :P
Either way, I think that should be fixed seeing as we know there are a few immortal types, plus any other quest giver that dies will probably be replaced by another NPC - I think it's due to the new radiant story stuff, or something like that.

Well if there was, radiant story would hopefully fix it. That is unless it was a scripted quest.

The environments were really dull in Oblivion and traveling was just a chore. It seems Skyrim will have much better aesthetics and you might even encounter some bandits during your travels. WELP, no fast-travel for me.

There's a dozen things in this single post that don't really aid you in whatever your trying to say here by being a Morrowind player. And I say this as someone who bought Arena the year it released.

Anyways the OPs question was answered as best as we could. So that's it.

In Skyrim, my characters will probably mostly walk or use horses for travel. I am not aware of any quests in which fast travel would be prohibited, however.

Although my characters will avoid fast travel, they will experiment with the carriage travel system, to see how it works.

If a character is a magic user, and mage travel like in Morrowind is allowed, my characters my also experiment with that.

My tendancy, is to mostly explore by walking or horseback. I would love to have a horse drawn cart, or wagon like in Daggerfall.

In response to the OP's question, I don't really believe that most of us have enough information about what the devs have done storywise to anser your question.

I suppose it remains possible that there might be a quest or two that would best be done without fast travel.

Again, most of my adventuring will probably be on foot or horseback, with occassional experimenting with other possible trave methods.

However, I will not use the fast travel method, as it was in Oblivion.
