I decided to make this post on custom resolution for Crysis 2 because I was once frustrated by trying to figure out the same thing. I believe I am not the only one who would like to change the resolution beyond what is offered by default.
I use Win Vista Home Premium 64bit, so the location of the files may be different than that of yours but the principle is the same.
Please follow the steps below.
1) Find "Saved Games" folder where the file "game.cfg" is located. Use the keyword "saved games" in windows search box to locate it's whereabouts.
2) Copy & Paste the following command-lines to "game.cfg" file.
r_Height = 1200
r_Width = 1920
You can use any other resolution you want by changing the numbers. If these command-lines are already there just change the numbers of your choice.
I have put up a guideline for offical resolutions available. See Picture.
3) Erase "sys_spec = #" command-line. Doing so will prevent your graphic settings reverting back to default if you use custom graphics in "autoexec.cfg". If you use the default Crysis 2 graphic settings you can delete this command-line too. Just launch Crysis 2 then set it again to i.e High, Very High, Extreme or Ultra and it remember it forever.
4) Save & Exit "game.cfg".
5) Go to "game.cfg" properties and make it "Read-only" and apply. This prevents the game from reverting your settings back to default.
And that's it.
Please reply to let me know how you did.
