Crazy little Idea for a Daggerfall Character

I've decided to make a dungeon crawling warrior who has no magic (i.e. Disadvantages: Unable to use magic in Daylight or Darkness). But he WILL be able to use magic items. He will join Julianos so that he will eventually be able to buy and enchant magic items. The key word here being "eventually". It will take at least a month before he can be sure of getting ANY magic item. (Usually, when I have a character who can use magic, at the end of that first month I'll be level 11 or 12 and be at least 5th rank in the Mages Guild. And it's the ability to cast spells that makes this almost easy). I want to ensure that my warrior (who can't cast spells) has some useful magic items until he makes enough rank in Julianos to be able to Enchant items.

My (crazy?) solution: Join the Mages Guild!!
How?....Choose Mysticism, Alteration, or Thaumaturgy (required skills for Julianos) as a Major skill and make sure it is at least 22 during character generation.
(My plan is to have Stealth, Critical Strike, Short Blade, and 2 other weapon skills as my Primary/Major skills. That 3rd Major won't be needed for leveling, and the useful warrior skills such as Dodging and Backstabbing can be made Minors with little detrimental affect).

Why?
1) The magic skill will be the "low skill" needed to make rank in Julianos. (Short blade will be the "high skill"). 2 to 6 points of training will be needed.
(Required skills for Julianos: 3 schools of magic, Short Blade, Lockpicking, Impish, and Daedric).

But most importantly

2) The Mage Guild has a quest "Protect an Honored Mage" while he's in a 3 hour trance which, as a reward, gives you a Magic Item. You can do this quest 4 times a day and receive items such as: Heal Health, Heal Fatigue, Open, Levitation, Water Walking/Breathing (all invaluable for a dungeon crawler). About the only really useful item that won't be available is one for Recall.

Bottom Line: Having useful magic items available during the first month or two certainly isn't necessary, but it sure makes dungeon crawling (and leveling up for a warrior) a whole bunch easier.
