[Possible Spoilers!] Talos, the Dragonborn?

Post » Sun Oct 09, 2011 11:54 am

So we all know the basics of the story we're going to be seeing in the next couple of months. The Emperor is dead, the Elder council that held the Empire together has fallen, and there's civil unrest in the colonies. To top it all off, the King of Skyrim has just been assassinated. The Stormcloaks want to secede from the empire, the Legion wants to bend Skyrim to it's will.

And then you come in. Dovahkiin, the 'Dragonborn,' who is 'by his honor sworn/to keep evil forever at bay.'

All fun stuff, evil, you, awesome.

Where it gets interesting: Talos, the one of 'The Eight and One' Divines, is the deified Emperor Tiber Septim. Who's second title is, 'the Dragonborn.'

My point: You're either a spiritual sucessor, or of direct lineage to the Septims. You could in fact be the next in line for the throne.

Sorry if this is old news, but I couldn't find anything - and I felt like sharing my discovery. It could in fact be totally wrong, 'as the abilities and title [can be] given by the Nine Divines to favored subjects.'

Thoughts? Am I totally wrong? Could I have struck on something? GIMME YO FEEDBACK.

If I recall correctly, the new Empire is trying to phase out Talos as one of the Nine Divines. It's actually quite likely that the hero is Talos reincarnated. The Talosine? :D

I'm rather certain the Dev's confirmed that you are in no way related to the Septims especially in blood. Tiber Septim was THE only Dragonborn of the Septim Line, as being Dragonborn refers to your soul not your blood. Its not something you can pass down through lineage which makes the rest of the Septim line being "Dragonborn" complete BS. Tibers line died with his Grandson anyway who had no heirs, then picked up with Tibers brothers line.

Either way, you're *sort of* a Septim?

Dragonborn is totally different this time around. This gets confused with "Dragonblood"

All of the Septims were Dragonborn in lineage. As was Saint Alessia. Jauffre even calls Martin "the Dragonborn" after the Main Quest of Oblivion.

However this story doesn't make much sense if you're Dunmer, or Khajitt, or Argonian. Unless Tiber Septim had more than just an affair with Barenziah.

Theory quashed. Thanks for the insight though.

No their not, its all a bunch of propaganda (no really, it is). The Empire was lead to believe this crock to give the Septims a 'divine right' of sorts to the throne. The line has been broken so many times is not even funny.

edit: I'm sorry to squash you theory :(

Um...what hasn't already been discussed here? We just go through the released information a gazillion times until there is something new to discuss.

They have been other Dragonborns, aside from Tiber Septim.

Actually theory not quashed - just changed. Apparently the Dragonborn is somewhat like the Nerevine, and it can be any race at any time. For instance Mankor Camoran could wear the Amulet of Kings, suggesting he could've, and let me say that again COULD'VE, been Dragonborn.

All of the Septims were Dragonborn in lineage. As was Saint Alessia. Jauffre even calls Martin "the Dragonborn" after the Main Quest of Oblivion.

Apparently it's spiritual as well.

The line has been broken, but explain the Amulet of Kings and Martin turning into a Dragon, then. Camoran was able to wear it because he was a descendant of the Camoran Usurper, but Martin was a Septim -and- mantled Akatosh.

Not really propaganda when you embody one of the Nine Divines.

What's with the Amulet of Kings and the Dragon Fire then? They really made it sound like it had something to do with the "Dragonborn" within the Septims.

Actually, Tiber's line ended with his son...just nitpicking >.>

But yea, the point being Tiber was the only dragonborn, and even then, his direct line ended with his son and the empire was passed to Tiber's brother. The Amulet of Kings and the Dragonfires was pewp perpetrated by Reman, and the "only the direct line of Tiber can wear the Amulet" was propagandized with the Septim empire. In reality, anyone who can be king can wear it, much like only a select few in Daggerfall could use the Totem of Tiber Septim. Mankar was such a person. Heck, even Gortwag the orsimer king could have worn it too. Also, by the time the late Uriel ruled, his blood line had been so incredibly diluted that if the propaganda was correct, Uriel wouldn't have been able to wear it.

So no, you are not related to Tiber Septim. One of the aedra (my bet is either Shor, Kyne, or Ysmir/Talos) plucked a soul of a dragon and stuck it in a mortal. It's a much more mundane answer than you think. And if the dragonborn is an altmer, than someone was trollin' the nords.

you could very well have tiber's old soul (souls are recycled in the TES universe) since he had the soul of a dragon and you have the soul of a dragon (nowhere does it say you have diffrent souls, or the same soul)

edit for lore help: mankar could wear the ammulet because he was in a diminsion that he made, the laws of mundas do not have to applie there ( i assume), and to wear the ammulet of kings you must have dragonblood type of dagonborn not the dragon soul type

Lol Ive actually been thinking this for a while now. But perhaps the Septim line really has died out, and whoever the Skyrim PC is will be the new chosen line? Or something, I guess well see.

no relation to the septims, they were a line of dragon born..every playable character we have ever been could be a dragon born. however its likely that we will be the incarnation of Talos this time and that has much significance.
