Imperial Race without the Empire

Post » Wed Oct 12, 2011 1:57 am

I guess we are aware of the Empire's existence and presence in the upcoming Skyrim game. And we know there will be Imperial items available (like Imperial armor/weapons, not necessarily Legion armor/weapons?).

If the Empire of Cyrodiil had not reformed, what name would the people of that province go under? Colovian, Nibenean, Nedes, Cyrodilic, all of the above?

Basically, without an Empire to unite the people of this particular "race," how would they be labeled "racially"?

I would say people would go back to their pre-Imperial cultural names. People from Colovia being called Colivans and Nibanese for those in the basin, collectivly I call them Cyrodilic's anyway. Never cared for "Imperial" as a racial name myself.

Edit: Courage is awesome

I know in Morrowind my imperial character was occasionally referred to as "Cyrodiil." It's either be that, or the lazy route and still called imperials.

Cyrodiils or Cyrods for me. Even though I catch myself sometimes saying Imperial. Which is the main reason people start those threads about Imperials = romans. Eliminating the word Imperial is half the battle.

I would go with Cyrodiils too. Maybe Nibeneans, and then Colovians if only bc colovians are very nordic in culture, as far as I know.

The other half is guns.

“Cyrodiil” is a pretty blanket term for every element of the Imperial Province: its common provincial name is Cyrodiil, the capital city is named Cyrodiil, the people are the Cyrodiils, and the Emperor is “The Cyrodiil.”

Last I heard, they're Imperials, but Cyrodiils is my preference, too.

I use "Cyrodil" with one I to refer to the people. I think Morrowind did it that way.

Well, calling a Colovian a Nibenese would result in the Colovian socking that person hard in the jaw, while the other way around would result in a 3 hour [censored]-fest as to why Colovians are nothing but uncivilized nord wanna-bes while the Nibenese are super cultured and that by calling the Nibense a person a Colovian is not at all a smart thing to do.

So, Cyrodil.
