UPDATE: Tried removing the game from the Programs folder, doing a clean boot, and disabling V-Sync and HDR to little, if any, effect.

I'm looking for some experienced help here with someone well versed in mods, load order, bugs, conflicts, etc...

I'm experiencing frequent CTD's when in exterior cells, not in cities or other interiors. It does not seem to matter where but they NEVER happen inside. They also seem to happen occasionally when fast traveling. Sometimes as can go for 10-15min without a CTD when outside but usually no much longer. The odd thing is that it's ONLY outside. Before the flame starts, I'm not a noob and I'm running current hardware... brand new in fact.

Specs
Core i5 3.4Ghz Quad-Core, 8GB RAM, Radeon 6870 1GB, 500GB SATA, Windows 7 64bit.

For mod management I'm running the latest OBMM & OBSE and using BOSS to sort my load order. I've also got my .ini tweaked with TweakOblivion. I am not running any DLC except for Shivering Isles, but I am running over 150 mods. I know this can be a problem but I've run this many before on an older machine and it seemed to work fine. Some of these mods are different from the ones I ran a few years ago but they are mostly updated versions which should perform better if anything. I've also tried to use as many OMODs as possible and all of the large mods are in OMOD format (MMM, QTP2&3, RAEVWD, Supreme Magica, Harvest, HGEC, LOD and many other small mods). Note that I read that MMM was updated to fix CTD issue in 355 so I updated to the latest version 37b3.

I have not played modded Oblivion since 2008 and I bought this new rig for Skyrim but I thought I'd rekindle the fire with some good old fashioned modblivion but it's difficult to enjoy when it CTDs every few minutes. Maybe it's a problem with conflicting mods or load order... or maybe it's a buggy mod? Can anyone help or give good advice?

What I have done so far....
--Used BOSS to sort mods (seems to work well)
--Removed Natural Environments and swapped for AWS (seemed to help a little)
--Isolated problem to exterior cells and fast travel. (12-16hrs)

Have you tested this with a new game?

Uncheck mods that alter the exterior environment. See if that makes any difference.

Just those with an .eps or all the textures too?

No, and I do have a clean version as a backup... will give it a try but OB is unplayable without significant modding... I'm hoping to avoid the tedious process of a complete reinstall then adding one mod at a time until the problem is isolated. Skyrim is so close that investing numerous hours in troubleshooting has limited benefit.

Looking at the installed mods and their order, does anything stick out as wrong... or do you see any inherently bad mods?

I also tried the "crash preventer" .dll for OBSE. It stopped the CTD on exit or to the main menu but not in game crashes.

Any esp file that affects exterior cells.
