Compared to Rage

What are the graphics for Skyrim like compared to Rage? I'm talking from a performance perspective.

My Pc can play Rage on max with no AA, so do you think I can expect the same performance from Skyrim?

If you have a question about your PC running Skyrim, http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1240184-unofficial-will-my-pc-run-skyrim-discussion-32/.

As for the question, we do not know as RAGE and Skyrim were made by two different companies with totally different engines

No. RAGE's engine is designed to maintain 60fps, meaning that it's very, very optimized. (Too much, in some cases.) Skyrim uses a completely different engine, and from what I've seen of Skyrim and played of RAGE, Skryim has much, much better textures. So between that and not being as well optimized, I doubt you (or anyone else) will be able to play Skyrim with as good performance as RAGE.

After all the graphical issues I had with Rage I am getting a little worried about Skyrim. Hopefully Betheseda will put out a much better product since TES seems to be their main focus (5 years in the making). Fortunately, I did get Rage running correctly with the new drivers, so I'm grateful they were able to resolve the issues.

I am running Rage on Max settings with no AA, like OP, and I see pretty good performance. I still get some lag in hectic scenarios and had to increase the size of the graphics memory cache to avoid "texture popping."

I guess all we can do is keep our fingers crossed that they put all the testing and effort into making this product work great at launch.

BTW, I have an ATI 5850.

Yeah there isn't a leveling or perk system of any sort. And I just finished it and I was disappointed.

RAGE for the PC might have better quality textures than Skyrim if they get around to releasing a super high-def texture pack. The game had to be cut from 150 GB in size to 20 GB, mind you.

The game runs quite well, but I'm not so sure about the optimization. Sure, the game runs great, but textures pop in from a blurry state all the time. Some textures remain blurry. So, as it stands now, Skyrim easily has better graphics than Rage.

Though, I like Rage. The game is fun to play and the blurriest textures are the ones you notice the least. Character models are quite high in detail, probably higher than Skyrim's characters. The animation is impeccable, some of the best I've seen. Many characters have unique mannerisms and quirks that really set them apart from the rest of the characters.

I thought the blurry texture thing was some kind of bug, I hope that isn't in Skyrim.

Two different developers
Two Different Engines
Two completely different genres

The only thing they have in common is Softworks being the publisher.
