Grim Reaper Character...

Post » Thu Oct 13, 2011 9:06 am

I was hoping to add a Grim Reaper-like character to a mod I'm working on, but I'm having a little trouble...

See, I was hoping to make a Black Hood that takes up both the Hair and Face sections of the body, but have a Skull as part of the Hood mesh, so it appeared as though the character had a skull for a face...

But even though I follow the instructions on how to combine meshes properly, it still doesn't work; the hood appears in the Construction Set, but not the skull...

This is basically what I wanted it to look like:

Is there something I'm not doing right? Is it possible for somebody else to make it in a few seconds for me?

Or is there a mod that designs an outfit that would be better suited for my character already out there?

I've got the Ghost Rider Helmet mod that has something similar and I also used on an NPC in the Spirit Scythe weapon Mod to weild the weapon - that might prove useful -- Pic from the Spirit Scythe Mod:

The mod has flames added to the skull right now but those nodes can be removed easily to make a skull helmet -- It only uses the Head slot so can be used with hoods etc. that use the hair slot without needing to combine the pieces as shown in the Pic with the hood\robe. If you'd like to use it as is. feel free to download the mod and reuse whatever pieces you need and if you need the flame nodes removed PM me and I'll remove them from the skull nif and upload for you.

It looks fantastic, and works wonderfully; thank you very much...

And luckily I do know how to remove objects from a mesh; it's adding them that alludes me...

If you do run into trouble removing them just PM me and I'll write up a quick guide for you -- but if you have removed nodes before you should be able to get it done. Good luck with the rest of the mod !

I think the probelm you were having is that the hood is rigged so that they work with the animations (attached to several bones like the head\left and right clavicle, spine, etc.) and the Skull is just a simple Biped PRN attachment to the head bone since it only moves with that single bone -- so to do what you were attempting would require loading the model into a 3d program and skinnig\rigging the skull to the head instead of using the PRN node attachment.

Thank you very much; it's all been sorted, so there are no problems...

I'll be sure to mention you in the Credits of the mod for designing the skull, naturally...
