Collectors Edition is it worth it ?

Post » Thu Oct 13, 2011 12:42 pm

Wasn't even a question for me. They could have asked for $300 and I'd happily buy it. Was in Gamestop within hours after the CE announcement to change my preorder.

EDIT: Think Alduin will look great with my PAX helmet draqed over him.

It's nice, but in my opinion it wouldn't be worth it unless it comes with a second opt-out-of-Steam disk for installing Skyrim, 100% DRM free.

No, but if it came with one of those life-sized statues, now that would be something.

But honestly, the art book will be scanned within an hour of it being released, so I'll see everything in that. I have no use for the dragon statue. Music, ditto like the images. Map has no details so again, rather useless.

That's a totally subjective question. It's worth it to me, but that doesn't mean that it will be worth it to someone else. It depends on your finances and how much the contents appeal to you.

Agreed. If you value the things that come with it that much, then yes, it is worth it. For me, it would have to come with a simple disk check for drm, no Steam, to be worth the hefty price.

Actually, I would pay the hefty price for the standard game if all it had was a simple disk check.

If you think it's worth it, then that is all that matters. I wouldn't mind having it, but I spent money on a new video card and PSU.

Not for me. I can buy Skyrim + all DLC, Fallout 4 + all DLC and some more stuff for the same money that would get me the CE, which is Skyrim with a DVD, statue and artbook.

Yes. I would have paid $200 for it. Since the last ES launched, people have paid over $300 for the same yearly, reskinned CoD games. TES are few and far between. I would pay $200 for just Skyrim itself.

No, it is not worth it.

PVC figurine is low quality. The CE game is just the regular game in a different cover and a dvd of how they made they game that you can just youtube in a few months. The book is nice but will be half that price 6 months after the release, same with the cheap dragon statue. This is marketing for profit, and it works. But it won't come off my dime. As I have said in the past. My cousin runs a comic book store and sells PVC figurines, and is baffled by the $150 price tag they are asking for.

Always nice when clueless people make clueless remarks. The statue is low quality... really? Because you have a secret early edition one right? Ohh that's right.... you don't, you have no idea what quality it is outside of a picture. The fact is the company that is making them are known for high quality game statues, most in $300-$400 range. Yes it's PVC but it also need to be produced in quantity in a short period of time. PVC does not mean low quality.

And keep dreaming thinking you will ever get the art book for $20, it will NEVER happen. They may NEVER release the art book separate, actually I bet they don't. You will find people selling them, but I doubt you will ever see one below $75.

Your so called cousin should really know a thing or two about collectibles working at a comics store, apparently not however.

Absolutely, I think the statue is well worth it, plus a 200 page art book.

While I agree that the price you are paying is equal to the products that they are giving you, I personally don't want this. I am much more of an in game bonus person. Give me [censored] I can use in the game and then the value goes up much more. That being said I would like it if there was an option like the Australian EB games is offering. Its half the price and just takes out the statue that, like someone else pointed out, will just end up collecting dust.

If you intend on keeping everything? It probably breaks even on value depending on how many copies are made in the world.

If you intend on selling the statue later on? You'll probably make the 150 back just with the statue in a few years, if Septim coins are any consideration.

Worth it yes, but I think you may have left it far too late to pre-order.

Yea guess we're opposites. I really don't like any of the in game stuff, most of the time its nothing to interesting.

Hmm, given the choice between a hard cover art book and map that I can hold in my hands or viewing them digitally on my monitor, tough call

I'm sure the detail and paint on the statue is high quality. However, thin PVC is not. This is common sense to people that actually collect figurines. Serious collector's don't mess with PVC, even though you did try hard to act as if you know what you're talking about. Kudos for trying.

No way in hell is it worth it!

Very EH about the statue, I know they say it is high end but all mine that were high end PVC love to break on me when I just go to clean them, not saying its a sure thing THIS will break but I mean its not like its made by hand so there a bound to be some flimsy parts.

I don't like dragons

I really want that artbook but no way am I shelling down $150 plus for a giant paper weight (IMHO THE DRAGON) a making of CD, game and artbook.

It just doesn't seem like a good price, I can afford it but ya this collection seems to be worth MAYBE $100, I really think Beth or whoever is doing this is just trying to get more money out from their fans
