Which is better?...

Post » Thu Oct 13, 2011 5:09 am

As some of you may know, I am strugling to build a new budget gaming rig for Skyrim as I'm not all that good with computers, and for about £650-£700 I was going to build one that included:

1GB GeForce GTX 560Ti OC GDDR5 Graphics Card
AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition 3.20 Ghz
4GB Ram
500 GB HDD
Windows 7- Home Premium

But I have just seen a pc advertised online for £500 which has:

Windows 7- Home Premium
Intel Core i-5 Processor 2.9 Ghz
4 GB Ram
1 TB HDD
2 GB Gforce GT 530 Graphics Card.

I would prefer a pc with better looks and flashy lights lol but ultimatly performance is more important, especialy that I'm going to want to play Skyrim in max settings, and so I was hoping if people could please give me their vote/opinion on which is the better package?

Many thanks in advance!

Yes I understand, and I dont mean to offend anyone, its just when I say I'm no good at computers I REALLY mean I'm no good at computers lol, so alot of those other threads dont make much sence to me and its alot easier to ask others for help on something that I might be stuck on... and I apreciate everybodys kindness and help. Thank you!

the second graphics card has a 730ish while the first has a 2970ish... the higher the number the better... The graphic card choice should be a no brainier with this information.

Both CPU should handle Skyrim fine, but for the video card the 1GB GeForce GTX 560Ti OC GDDR5 Graphics Card is clearly the one to choose. The other one is relatively weak compared to it.

I have the 2GB version of the GeForce GTX560Ti card, and it runs perfectly. I've maxed Fallout New Vegas settings, and it has never stuttered once, and I only have the i-3 processor. I'd go with no.1.

GTX560 all the way!!!!
If it were me, I'd go with this one, which is on a weekly offer at the mo and includes the new Batman Arkham City game...

Go with this.

GTX 560 ti
i5 2500k Intel Processor
1 TB HDD
620 watt PSU, maybe more if you want to future proof
A z68 Mobo
and 4gb RAM. Preferably 1600 although lower will work.

Not if the MoBo has one built in. Most have a 7.1 in them these days which you can hook up to a cheapo surround system for awesome (relatively speaking) sound. Alternatively, I use a set of 5.1 Trust USB headphones/headset which are true surround and sound awesome!

Slightly off topic in my own thread here, but am I right in thinking that if Skyrim is a "games for windows" then you will be able to play with a 360 controller on your pc?
