Reload your manual save?

I never let quick saving do all the work. If I don't end the game with a save I made manually I don't feel right.

DIAMOND RULE OF GAMING:

never ever never save when your in combat

Even better: SAVE before combat! If you must fight, make sure you're really ready to fight. Last thing you want is to witness a bandit mopping the floor with your tough, burly Nordic warrior.

No problem because there is 3 auto-saves in TES V. You even can set the intervals of time for the auto-saves, from 5 to 15 minutes. At least, you will have a autosave from 5 minutes and 5 seconds ago.

The only AutoSave I use is on Wait and I'd only Wait if I was safe, right? I save often and to new slots so if I have to go back, I won't lose a lot. I QuickSave a lot too because it's easy. Skillful saving will help you have a better experience. It's heartbreaking when people come here and had only one Save and it got corrupted or the situation you describe. I sure don't want to see more of that.

Well the game won't autosave unless you rest or travel to a new area so that won't happen.

You could flee from a dungeon because of low health (doors autosave?) when a new enemy, like a dragon, appears? that'd be a pain in the ass ...

A corrupted save? Here's hoping not. Force of habit will have it that I'll avoid quicksaving like the plague.

Can you turn this feature off?

Yes. I never play with autosave. Ever. Manual saves only for me.

you'll be forced to reload from an earlier game or be forced to pause the game go highlander and run away like the brave sir robin.

or your character dies, and with it, its power.

seriously, you'll just either start a new game or use a different save

I guess if you use the same save slot, but you never want to do that with elder scrolls games as the save will more likely corrupt over time. If you make a new save each time, it doesn't really matter where you save.

That's what manual saves are for, as I keep telling my kids, "turn that box off now." "I need to save." "Now, I warned you to save it five minutes ago." "But I haven't saved for ages." "Then you have a lesson to learn for next time." [Click.]

Thats just cruel. o.o

On-Topic: I've had my friends take my oblivion character and throw him off the side of a bridge and save right before he hits the ground just to be complete [censored]'s and I just have to spam press B on my controller and fast travel before I die. -.-

This always happens. this is one of the key reasons to actually create a NORMAL save every so often.

I am curious though if Skyrim has the multiple quick saves/autosaves that some newer games have adopted. Pure genius in my mind. When you quicksave there are multiple slots..so just in case..you can fall back on a previous one. Can't remember which games I have seen this in recently..but I recall it being in a few. One had 3 quicksaves slots, and would use them in order so if something like what you mentioned happened..you could just go to the previous quicksave.
