Quick question about: Books

Post » Wed Oct 12, 2011 11:54 pm

Hello guys and ladies! Im very new here so if this question of mine has already been adressed in previous posts, then im sorry. I will digress a little bit, but please, bear with me.

When people talk about TES series, they proceed to tell, with a glow in their eyes, all the incredible features and options that only a TES game can offer. How big the game is, how spellcrafting is a blast, and a lot more. BUT, in my humble opinion, one of these incredible aspects of the game does not receive enought love. And that is BOOKS.

I love reading. Im a fan of literature. I read pretty much anything. In the game (Oblivion), there are a lot of good readings, but one, for me, is woth mentioning above others. I still remember, when roaming amid the cities of Oblivion, finding a little book called "Barensias, Vol. 1".
Never in a game i read something so well written and entertaining, lore-related. I stopped looking for Oblivion gates altogether, just searching for other volume of the Saga, more of the female dark elf. :D

With that said, i gotta ask: Skyrim will have books like Oblivion? If yes, there's a number of how much, more or less? Thanks for those who answer.

Yes, my fellow bookworm. Skyrim will have books just like Oblivion. I'm sure it will have returning books just like Morrowind had books from Daggerfall, Oblivion had books from both and so on. As well as plenty of new books for us to enjoy.

If I recall correctly, I believe Skyrim will have three-hundred books. Give me a moment and I'll look it up to be sure.

I would rather have books like Morrowind. I loved reading about Nerevar, the drama, the conflict; very intriguing! I also adored the http://www.imperial-library.info/node/1259/; it's the Dunmer bible! I hope to see such deep lore/religion in Skyrim. Oblivion felt kind of bland, lorewise.

Here is a thread started awhile back. I was curious about this as well. Might be some extra info for you as well.

The 36 Lessons are what turned my character against the Tribunal. But that is a story for another time...

On topic: All I could find was a rumor that there would be three-hundred books so I'm not certain of the exact number. To give you an idea Morrrowind had roughly 180 books if you count returning books from Daggerfall, and a "series" as one book. So, the 36 Lessons for instance, I counted as one. Since in a non-video game format those "books" would be chapters.

Thanks guys! Well...im a newborn in TES series, if you want to call that. My first experience was with Oblivion, so i don't really know how books was adressed in Daggerfall and Morrowind. But if you guys are saying Morrowind was better, then like Morrowind i want. The more, the merrier. :celebration:

Does anybody knows the writers responsible for the books in Skyrim? Their previous works and all that...i know is a info that only "bookworms" like me would be interested about..but maybe the community is curious too? :blush2:

I had to be in the mood to read the books in both Morrowind and Oblivion. Knowing about Skyrim now, I have to say, I'm enjoying replaying Oblivion and finding books related to Skyrim lore and history.
