Skyrim World Tour

Post » Thu Oct 13, 2011 7:06 pm

One of my first goals in Skyrim is to walk to every city on the game (All 9 holds), and hit as many of the major villages on the way as I can. But looking at the map, I can't decide on where to go first and what path to take. Based on what cities you think will be important, interesting or geographically fascinating, how should I do this? I can't seem to make a route that maximizes the locales visited without backtracking. I'm open to all ideas, as in I have no preferences where I start or end.

I was thinking of the pine forests which if you start near (ish) Riverwood will be south south-west as you start. Simply because I'd love to see how they compare to the forests in Oblivion.

You'll probably have to wait for a detailed world map with roads before you plan anything like that. And keep in mind that even Alexander the Great and Marco Polo back tracked.

Who needs roads? :)

I'm heading towards the nearest city I can find. Since we don't know exactly where in Skyrim we'll start from it just all depends on that.

The stars above will guide me... But I hope to lose myself countless times, is the best way to find interesting things in every TES ! ;)

Clockwise from Helgen. Falkreath->Markarth->Solitude->Morthal->Dawnstar->Winterhold->Windhelm->Riften->Whiterun. There seems to be roads most of the way. Based on a certain map *none* of us have seen... :whistling:

I'm taking my time and spending at least a week in each city.

My problem with Oblivion is that I rushed it and had a overpowered thief/warrior/Mage who was also the head of every guild, the grand arena champion, sheogorath and Cyrodill champion.

I'll begin in the starting point and then use the map to show me what the land is like and explore near by then expand out.

I'm going to wander around until i find a nice village i like the look of. I'll probably get a job, find somewhere to stay and start exploring the local area and do a bit of hunting! After a while i'll start to go on longer quests further and further away from my adopted village.

It's not exactly a "world" tour. Sound more like playing the game, unless you set a time limit of course.

I think I'll just follow my nose and see where it leads me.
