How does the voice acting work?

Post » Fri Oct 14, 2011 3:26 am

Ok, so theres 8 voice actors right? But then I heard theres over 70? So how does this work, my main gripe about Oblivion was the same voices used for every single race. Please say theres more than 2 voices for each race :(

Can any one partially confirm how many different voices per race there may be?

There are many voice actors. They released the names of 8 that would peak interest in the game.

I expect the 8 are four specific characters, people who have played the demo have remarked that they didn't hear the same voice twice, really don't thin the voice acting is anything to worry about this time around

Yeah, 8 MAIN actors and loads of little parts, to keep the voices in the game different. So all Elves, Orcs, Breton's don't sound the same etc....
Apparently, people hated that in Oblivion but it didn't bother me none.

364. I've got 200 hours in the game already.

Im not sure if people really understand how big a part of the development voice acting and dialogue is, and how much work it takes. If they were to give every NPC in the game a voice actor each, we'd be looking at about 50 NPC's and 1 town, with a Mainquest of about 5 hours of gameplay. Leave it out guys. give me 1,000 NPC's where some of them have the same, but tweeked, voice.

Well it was just, in real life you meet people and they sound different all the time, no matter what gender, race, color or creed they are. TES has a high level or realism and having like just a couple of voices for each race takes that away.

I'm pretty sure they said there were 70 voice actors (number escapes me, but I know it was a lot...especially compared to the 8 or whatever it was in Oblivion)

It drove me nuts when I heard an elderly woman with the voice of a 20 year old, I don't actually know it was 20, but the voice distinctly did not belong to an elderly person.

How does the voice acting work?

People talk for hours and hours into microphones for my entertainment and then in the game I skip half of it because they speak much slower than I read.
