[REL] POTD paintings

Post » Thu Sep 10, 2009 8:39 am

What it does

Adds 70+ paintings, each of them in 2 different sizes in various shops of MW
The regular paintings can be placed / rotated / moved
The miniature paintings can be placed on shelves and tables.

Additionally, the same paintings are statics in the CS for modders.

Details
All the paintings are screenshots. Some I made myself but the really gorgeous ones are POTD from TES or screenshots posted on various 'scenic screenshot threads' of Bethesda forums

You can buy the paintings in various towns, painings of a particular town will be available in that town.
Some paintings can be stolen but they all have ownership.

Conflicts
I have not deleted or moved anything from the original game.
I have simply added a container (for the traders) and some miniature paintings in traders' and pawnbrokers' shops.

Credits
Tommy Khajiit for the painting meshes. Both can be foud here.
Dracus for the painting script (to place/rotate paintings)

Authors of the screenshots:

Bahamut, C.Mireneye, Dragynlord, Jaffah, Jermex, Krzymar, Mr Swiveller, MrBee30, MrKWmonk, MrTomnus, Murezor, Phal, Povuholo, Skydye, Teclis, Vality, Vtastek, Vurt, Zackg, Zeroed

This is awesome idea, especially since I always thought paintings in Morrowind should show something from in-game or at least Morrowind related.

Thanks :goodjob:

I might not be doing myself a favour but I know of a couple of mods that add painting made from screenshots. They are modder's ressources though so they need to be placed ingame.

Pekka's mod has paintings and rugs (and maybe tapestries as well, I forgot) mostly of characters.

My paintings are stricly landscapes, a good deal of them were made with MGE, so they're extra nice!
Also, I don't know of any other mod (but mine) that adds the smaller paintings (also a mesh by Tommy Khajiit found http://tommyshideout.net/programs/myo.html)

Wow, this is pretty smart!

I like the one with the netch and emperor parasol. Very nice!

Is it possible to release a version that has been filtered to look like it was painted with a brush? You can do this in photoshop, as I'm sure you know.

Sure :) I went with impressionism (well, tried to) but it won't take that long to change the effects. Will do that over the week end.

Great idea, Danae. Now that you've done this I'm surprised no one else has done it in the years since Morrowind was released. As always- it's the little things! :)

Thanks to SKydye sharp eye, the tiny blue lines on some paintings have been spotted and corrected.
I have updated the file on http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7573.
If you didn't notice the blue lines or don't care (they're not that visible ingame) don't bother downloading again ;)

Thanks for all your praise!

Another mod gets a beauty treatment...

== I have reworked the textures of the existing 30+ paintings so they look more like, well, paintings.

http://i656.photobucket.com/albums/uu289/Danae123123/POTD%20Paintings/Redonepaintings.jpg

... and an expansion!

== There are some 40+ new paintings on the way (pending permission from the screenshots authors)
http://i656.photobucket.com/albums/uu289/Danae123123/POTD%20Paintings/povuholo1.jpg (this particular one is from Povuloho)

Every painting still comes in 2 sizes and are scattered all around.

Oh, my bad, I wasn't clear: the version on PES is still version1 as I still need a couple of permission before I release the new paintings. I should be posting v2 in a couple of days if not tomorrow.

I hope you wont mind dling again, the paintings do look much better now and the new ones are great. Ok, I'm not the most objective person here, but still!

Thank you!

Here's the list of all the screenshots authors:
Bahamut, C.Mireneye, Dragynlord, Jaffah, Jermex, Krzymar, Mr Swiveller, MrBee30, MrKWmonk, MrTomnus, Murezor, Phal, Povuholo, Skydye, Teclis/Magius, Vality, Vtastek, Vurt, Zackg and Zeroed
I am still missinga couple of permissions but went ahead with the release, cos I'm impatient. Worse case scenario I'd remove the paintings but I hope it wont come to that.

Anyway, enjoy!

Great work here. I have acquired several already and have started redecorating my abodes. However, I can't seem to find anyone at the Imperial Commission in Ebonhart that sells them. Am I missing something? Thanks

No, it's normal, I removed it because there was no room for the new paintings and I felt it is more of a treasure hunt to look for them all over the continent. I thought I had modified the mod description and the read me though.

I have plans to make an art gallery involving a quest to collect all the painitings. When you bring a painting, a copy is made and displayed while you can take the original home with a reward for collecting all paintings. Well, at this point it's just an idea. In the meanwhile, I could add a merchant's chest with all the paintings for the impatient collector's :)

On a side note, there are two paintings of yours simply named "Dragynlord's Dagon Fel". I have had a couple of requests from screenie authors to personalise the paintings' names, so feel free to let me know if you'd rather give a different names to your paintings ;)

Good collecting!

Thanks. Ebonhart wasn't mentioned in the readme, I just saw it in the description at the top of this page. Then I happened to be in Ebonhart and thought I would take a look. I like the idea of the gallery and quest to look for them all. Again thanks for this mod. The paintings are beautiful. :foodndrink:
