Dissapointed that you can't actually stab anyone...

My fear is the fact they will simply 'clip' the blade inside of them, which is already immersion breaking in the TES series if you ask me. They nailed down the camera/audio of it all, but I want to see some visual marks to indicate I actually did perform an execution/finisher.

Are there any games out there that do actual real-time deformation of enemies when you hit them with things? (Like, actually modeling a hole in something that you stab/shoot, not just layer a "slash" decal on the enemy where you "slashed" it.) I'd be surprised if there were.

(And I'm not talking about simplistic "fall to pieces" stuff like Fallout 3.... pre-defined cutting planes where the parts come apart, isn't the same as "I slashed him in the upper leg, there's now a cut modeled into the leg mesh there.")

I would fully expect "simply clipping" blades into bodies, since that's pretty much all I've ever seen.

I would prefer the sword clipping over the deliberate miss approach.

The blood spray would be enough to convince me he was hit. Going off to the side all the time is going to make me feel like I'm just play-fighting. Not the kind of feeling I want to have in a game that is toting more brutal combat as one of its selling points.

He just doesnt know what hes talking about and tries to sound smart. Most people do that here.

You do realize that it's not a reality simulator where you can "simply" make something realistic happen? Because it's all artifical stuff and the easiest way to artificially create an illusion of stabbing someone is throught camera shift, blood and a sound. Which is exactly what it would be even if it looked perfect.

seems to think that the models in the animation would collide. Thats just wrong and lack of knowledge shows

Yeah, I'm guessing it's the reason from the 1st person dimensions being completely separated from the actual World like in Oblivion.
couldn't really Stab anyone in Oblivions First person either, your weapon really didn't touch the person. I'm guessing it's gonna be the same thing here.
