Deleting spells?

Post » Fri Oct 14, 2011 3:10 am

I remember how annoying it was scrolling through all the low level spells I never use to equip one I want. Can there be an option to delete spells from your list? Also I think it would be cool if instead of equipping spells from some menu, instead we could have an actually spell book that we'd pull out and go through to equip a spell.

Not sure but there won't be nearly as many spells as there were in Oblivion so hopefully you won't even have to delete spells.

How so?There's 85 spell effects in the game, there were only about 40 something effects in Oblivion.

You should be able to setup favorite shorcut in Skyrim. So for the spell you mostly use u will not have to browse thru your spell list.

I can't tell if you're serious or not. The oblivion spell menu was a mess.

There were 62 if you counted all the summon armor, summon weapon, and summon creature each as one. And then with spellmaking there were to many combinations to bother counting. The only way the magic menu didn't get ugly was if it was never looked at or used.

In SK, the menu breaks the spells up by school. Add the fact that we can no longer make our own, and all in all it'll stay much cleaner. Even moreso you can keep the ones you use in a fav menu and forget about the rest.

Having a book would be a bad idea since those are spells which you learned.
Also remember that not everybody wishes to RP as a wizard-like class who carries a book around with him.
If someone does, he/she can carry around a bunch of scrolls instead.
So yea, not having a book is a good idea.

Deleting spells should be there and I see no reason why it shouldn't be there.
There are going to be a lot of spells in Skyrim (together with dragon shouts) and you may find that you simply don't use some and that they just create mess and wish to delete 'em.

I really don't know why did they left something like that out from Oblivion when they had it in Morrowind.

There will be no need to delete spells in Skyrim as there are no spell ranks. In addition to the mana cost dropping as your skill improves the magnitude of the spell also increases. There is no minor heal, major heal, etc.

Hey - your messaging is broken. So read this, and then I'll edit out the off topic stuff. That other thread got locked :)

In reply to your post: I believe it makes perfect sense. For instance, not every movie comes out in every cinema in the world. I only heard about Splice because I was in Canada last year.

They take every review of every game. If the game is on the xbox 360, like Oblivion, than it should be as equally well received as Zelda is for Wii, if it is as good a game. It is, after all, the Game of the Year. Meaning it is the one best game that entire year. It has to include every single game, or else the award is meaningless. "Well, Skyrim was the Game of the Year for 2011. But we didn't count any other game that came out over the course of the entire year, so it was the only nominee."

Oh and my point was that it doesn't mean much because of the number of magazines awarding the same award to different contenders, and hence the number of magazines who don't award the award to a particular contender. It is like player of the day, in many ways. (similar to man of the match, except both teams gave out the award, it was for primary school sports, and that often 2 or 3 people got the award a game)

On topic:

They had spell deletion in Morrowind. They did not have it in Oblivion. My belief is that, with the amount of people talking about wanting it back, they will bring it back.

UNLESS - because of the new effects and lack of spell making, you only have 85 spells in your list, one for every effect. Obviously if there are different spells for on target, on self and rune then that is 255 spells. It is my belief that they would not pretend to be making the game easier to use, and then clutter your spell list with so many spells.
The hotkey system is entirely unimpressive. All it allows you to do is to shorten the spell list, but include every item that could be equipped in that hand. A nuisance if you are a battlemage, I feel.

There will be no need to delete spells in Skyrim as there are no spell ranks. In addition to the mana cost dropping as your skill improves the magnitude of the spell also increases. There is no minor heal, major heal, etc.

That is all very well and good, as long as there are spells that "charge". I.e. I don't want to waste all my magicka casting a 200 point feather spell after someone burdened me to 1 point over my strength, only to have them cast dispel on me and be out of magicka to fight them with.

85 spells is still a lot and people will want to delete some they don't want.
I really don't know why is this even an issue.
Spell delete should be in Skyrim, period.

There is a favorites menu. Put the spells you want in there, and never look back. Problem solved?

we dont have spells anymore just spell effects so there would be no point in deleting spells other than unlearning special effects

Ah yeah I had disabled the personal messenger some time ago because I would be absent from the forum and because then it will be useless for people to eventually send me message ;)
