Finding the Dragon Shouts

Post » Fri Oct 14, 2011 1:40 pm

I don't know if this has been posted before, but the problems of this situation just hit me and I wanted to write it down before I lost track of the idea. If the words for the dragon shouts are found on "word walls" throughout the game, what happens if we can't find these walls. I know that you could systematically just check every dungeon until you found them all, but wouldn't that take (at the very least) half of FOREVER? So my question is how do you guys think they will solve this problem?

I doubt they are all in dungeons, and I suspect there are clues throughout Skyrim that could point you toward them. Scrolls, rumors and maybe even the dragons themselves. Remember some of them are good. They may give you quests on where to find them.

There are 24 dragon shouts in the game and each is performed by the vocalization of specific words of power. Dragon Shouts are gained by slaying and absorbing the souls of dragons, as more are slain the users ability to learn and use new shouts increases. These shouts have powerful effects and provide the user with a variety of abilities . For instance, one shout sends foes hurtling away from you, another shout instantly teleports you from one spot to another, and yet another summons a dragon and forces the beast to fight by your side in battle. The player can choose to only vocalise part of a dragon shout which will lower the recharge time of the shout but cause the shout to be weaker. Many shouts can be discovered on the walls of old ruins. In an interview Todd Howard said every shout has 3 words and there is 1 word per word wall. This is how shouts are learned.

There you go.

I will solve this "problem" by exploring dungeons.

I'm sure shortly after the game is released there will be a list online of where to find them. Or, if you can't wait that long, buy the guide. I hope there are some that are well hidden for the people who like to explore. Maybe NPCs will be able to point you in the right direction, like they did in Oblivion with Daedra shrines.
