I pressed w and went forward now I cannot stop. I hit the q button it doesn't stop the character. I hit the caps lock and all that does is make the character run faster. I hit shift and character runs but I still can't stop him. I do not keep my finger on the w to move the character. How do I get him to stop?

If you have a gamepad or some type of controller connected, try unplugging it.
