Lonesome Roads, disparity between reviewers and the communit

Post » Sat Oct 15, 2011 4:35 pm

By the looks of this forums, I`d say Lonesome Roads was generally well received, and even considered one of the best dlc of New Vegas. What I find absurd and ridiculous, if how big reviewers all rated this DLC a awful mark. How can it make sense that our opinions and their ratings are near contradictory?!

What do you have say people?

Note: I'm not exactly 100% sure of the community's reaction or feelings, so sorry if I misinterpreted it.

Everyone has there own opinion about something, although the vast majority of people enjoyed the DLC, some people didn't.

For example, I don't like Battlefield, or COD, but the vast majority of people do. Same thing goes for any game or DLC. You'll see alot of people lean either towards really good or everyone will say, really bad. I like to think that's the case because bigtime fans usually go to the forum(s) of the game that they like the most. :)

It's because of all the hype. Advertise something enough and idiots around the world will start to think that it's going to be perfect. Well, here's some news: nothing is.

Every time, especially if it's delayed, a hyped game or part of it will get mixed reception.
Some will dislike it because it wasn't Christ's second coming, some dislike it for the sake of being different. Some are just those who pick one flaw and judge the entire product with it. And of course when talking about entire products many dislike it based on taste - that's "normal" of course.
Personally I liked Lonesome Road quite a bit. It had much Fallout feeling in it, like the Pitt. A bleak ruintown with pre-war artifacts and skeletons lying about, and a nice story even if I didn't want to listen to Ulysses ramble.

Lonesome Road tells us about a package from the west and that's the whole basis of the plot and nothing more. So the story is very weak but the character development minus ED-E is pretty good.

But I would take game reviewers opinions with a grain of salt, because they all are mindless dumb asses that think COD is the highest standard of gaming.

I offer no illusion that Lonesome Road is my least favorite of the DLCs, and I'm a guy who damn near broke his keyboard during a few minutes of Dead Money.

The story was way too contrived for my tastes. I respect anyone with a story to tell but what "happened" to the Divide being never mentioned or known by the major players of the Mojave Wasteland seems far-fetched even for my generous suspension of disbelief. As a more ludicrous example it would be like going through the entire game looking for Caesar and then when you get to the Fort, YOU ARE CAESAR! A really painfully obvious thing that people probably should've been able to point out to you prior to "The End."

I get that they wanted to end New Vegas with a bang, and they certainly did. I've since "written" around it so that it's a lot less linear in my personal line of canon but it's definitely my Mothership Zeta of New Vegas - though at least I keep it installed and play through it.

My two caps.
