So I just bought the 5th Anniversary edition of Oblivion at Australia's first proper gaming expo. I get home and start the install and at first I just did both the main game and dlc installs one after another. This just resulted in a black screen for about 5 seconds before it flickers and dies, spitting out a windows 'This program crashed, what do you want to do know?' error window. If it'll help, here's the stuff I found in the 'see more'

So then I uninstalled, and re-installed just the first disc and tried again. I found this forum, deleted my .ini file (the game had still managed to create one), running in admin and tried running the game in WinXP compatibility mode (worth a try). The game still doesn't run and just flashes a black screen with the windows window after reducing back to the desktop.

Cause I don't know how to use spoilers here's a dropbox link to mine, it's the least messy way to do it.

Well this is awkward...

I solved the problem, or rather, a friend solved it.

Twas the dual monitor config that I had. I just need to unplug one and it decided to run.

But since I'm going to be hanging around to acquire mods could anyone make decent recommendations (for mods) and explain spoilers?
