Our Fallout Movie is Here!

Post » Sun Oct 16, 2011 8:29 pm

We(I) am proud to pronounce that my fallout movie that i have been working on for about a month now is finally completed. It was a major improvement to my test movie about 2 months ago.
I did to the best of my ability with the resources i had. I did everything and i mean EVERYTHING. Filming, editing, writing, and the voice-overs which i really wished i had some people to do voice-overs.
For a novice editor and a crappy laptop i gave it my all and did the best to my ability. I am REALLY hoping that you guys like it and i am accepting all constructive criticism but do keep in mind i used
my resources to the highest extent so please think about that when adding your opinion. I really hope that you guys like my movie and maybe subscribe if you like it. It would be much appreciated and
if anyone has any experience editing or filming or doing voice-overs than contact me so you can help out on the next one! Thanks a lot!

I'm commenting as I watching, and thus far, the only thing I have to suggest is that you have your character complete meaningful actions. For example, instead of wandering around, you could have your character sit at the bar and talk to another NPC quietly with the Radio being the focus (I assume that was your intention) You could also have your character watch other people move around, eg, suspicious characters. (Your character usually faces NPC's so this shouldn't be a problem. In some ways, Tales of the Mojave had things which could have been added to the actual film!

One thing I have to suggest is that you try using a voice altering program to change Power Armored characters voices. You'll notice this ingame and it broke my suspension of disbelief during your film. Consider turning off some of the ingame sound, for example, the object pickup sound, and replace this with your own. You might also use some pvssyr, rather than having direct mission talk, eg, 'Oh, I love this song!' Also, SHOW REACTION TO PAIN! I know this hardly ever happens ingame, but you can pretend your characters are getting wounded by making pained noises, or saying 'I'm sure gonna need a med-x/stimpack after this!'

You might want to use the TFC command more often, as this allows you to get your camera from interesting angles. I think you did this with the Radio, but I'm unsure. You can also use TM command to hide menus, for example, when talking to an NPC. I enjoyed how you changed character perspective. That was really interesting. Good job with that. The only thing I noticed is that one version of Cable (or at least, I think his name is cable, The Combat Armour guy? He alternated between having a pipboy and NOT having a pipboy. Minor details, I know, but. :sadvaultboy:

Consider having the characters talk whilst having the lockpicking minigame open. Saying 'I'm almost there' whilst doing nothing doesn't really do it.

And... I just finished. Pretty interesting. The story's there, I'll give you that. It just needs the minor background details fixing. Looking forward to part 3!

Right off the bat, I suggest playing with the HUD off for a more cinematic experience.

Gaither; as mentioned, the first link was just a test video. He turned it off in the subsequent two.

It's really nice to hear some good feedback and that was really good constructive criticism to be honest. I was really hoping I could get some people to
Work on it with me but I couldn't find anyone :( and yeah I would love to put in the little tiny details that make the movie that much better:)
