So, a few months ago i played Oblivion to near death and uninstalled it in favor of other games. So this month, in rabid anticipation of Skyrim, i reinstalled Oblivion to see Cyrodiil one last time before i delved into the frozen northlands, and well, it wasnt really successful. At all. It crashes on startup, no mods or anything are installed. Ive installed it to different folders, different partitions, ive reinstalled my drivers etc. Now i know my machine can run the game maxed (as i said, i did so mere months ago) but i will post my specs anyways.

Windows 7 Home Premium
AMD Phenom II Triple Core Processor 2.2ghz
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 (stock speed atm) Driver Version 11.8
4GB DDR3 RAM

Thats the basics. My little laptop here can run Crysis 2 and The Witcher 2 on higher settings, i dont see why Oblivion wont even launch. Also the launcher itself crashes on occasion (so, i get in game, hear the bethesda opening music, then crash. Next time i try the launcher sputters and dies.)

Another oddity is that...previous mods show up in my install folder for inexplicable reasons. I patch to Shivering Isles (tried both SI and a fresh non patched install, doesnt matter) and suddenly Natural Weather .esp files show up in my data folder.

Any help would be appreciated

Is the game installed to the default location? (Probably shouldn't be.)

Did you delete the old Oblivion.ini in your Documents\My Games\Oblivion folder when you reinstalled the game? (Should have.)

Yeah i did both =/ Still crashes.
