I'm worried.

Soo I recently bought rage, everything was running perfect until I was actually playing the game. It began perfect with the cinema intro and after that The game.. It started with alot of screen tearing and weird white flashes and by compass dissapearing. weird thing is that it was totally not lagging at all And everything was on high. So i started trying to fix it with enabling v-sync but no succes. The problem is that my card has been faulty since I bough my computer it 2009. Soo that means sometime when I just play a regular game I get a Crash with only to see vertical coloured lines on my screen. I got that when Oblivion was the first game on my system. Since then I fully lost my trust in ATI cards. My card is an ATI radeon 5670 card and works nice except it being faulty. Soo I am thinking to get an Nvidia card but which one do you recommend that works the same like the 5670 and is on its same budget?

Anyways, If I get skyrim and the first thing that will happen are vertical lines than you should not get near me. I do not blame skyrim or Bethesda, I blame ATI for its bad support an alot of customers! make things compatible! lazy ''censored''.

I am in a little bit of the same boat

However, my PC was new in 2010. It has an ATI radeon. I want an Nvidia card myself. ATI has always been a hassle in my opinion

But what ATI does well on some cards is power management. For the Nvidia card, I first need to upgrade my power supply

Whatever card you choose, make sure your power supply will handle it first

You lost hope in ATI after one card? What happens if you get an Nvidia card that is faulty?

Personally I have no problems with my 6950, and its even flashed to a 6970. I take it you have all the up to date drivers, etc, etc?

Edit: To answer your question about a similar budget card on nvidia side, to match pricing you would have to go with a Geforce GTX 450 (fermi).

My ATI cards work like a charm.

Anyway, have a website that I find very useful, it has the performance of video cards plus their general prices: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/index.php

Rage is an OpenGL game and Skyrim is DirectX.

I hope Skyrim will play for me on 360 as well. Back when I bought Oblivion for my xbox the controls were always reversed with no way of changing them. But, I've got a brand new 250 g, so not too worried.
