The Original Dovahkiin

Post » Mon Oct 17, 2011 5:34 am

I am looking forward to Skyrim... obviously... and i know my first character will be close to the original and cliched Dovakiin weve seen in the trailers and whatnot, you know, big guy, viking helemet, that guy. I know personally i want to play him because 1. Hes totally freakin epic.. 2. He suits the setting and theme of Skyrim, and dragons and stuff perfectly.. and 3. Hes totally freakin epic. But i know some people will hate on him and me, saying its not creative using the cliched original Dovahkiin, and that i should make my own characters.. well what i have to say is, this IS my character, i have created his own unique backstory that is in no way cliched, i have come up with a personality and dispositions for him, all to suit my personal preferences, but i love the feel and look of the original character so thats what im going to use. Is it such a crime, what about you guys? Are any of you going to play with the same look as the original Dovahkiin? Or do you hate the mere thought of him? Obviously im going to play other characters, unique characters, and this character will be unique because im going to make him uniquie, but what do you guys think?

While it's something I have no plans on doing, it does sound like an interesting way of going about it.

I'll also play basically the default Dovakhiin (I think it'll be the default male Nord, I hope I'm right), but a bit customized....especially some nice war paint in his face.

Hes not a default or original Dovahkiin. He is just a male nord in regular iron armor. Its just that the iron armor looks awesome, thats all.

Its just like in Oblivion the guy in the trailer was a normal male imperial in imperial armor, and in Morrowind it was a normal dark elf in bonemold armor (though he did look cool and special with spiky hair and face tattoo)

Well I think it would be boring copying the default but it's not me who will be playing your game, so what does my opinion matter?

Wood Elf thief for my first playthrough. It seems to fit my play style of a new game world.

i think i may do this because isnt it fair to believe that the creators hve tailored the game to connect with the nord emotionally and feel rich in nordic culture?idk i think it may enhance the experience to play this way, your thoughts?

Remember people, this is Skyrim, no such thing as "default character". You're talking about the poster-boy, no matter how much you make your character (not) look like him (I don't blame you for either), it's the way that you decide to play the game that defines said character.

This is supposed to be the whole point of starting without any set skills, attributes or whatever, only your chosen appearance.

Nope mine will be far from him. He seemed more of a jack of all trades, but my first character will be a Breton mage that uses long swords and scimitars but mainly focuses on improving his spells and he will be as evil as possible. My second character will be a Bosmer Rogue that kills everyone that gets between him and his treasure but maybe my third character will be more of a noble soul.
