Question about Shivering isles : IV

I recently bought the 5th Anniversary Edition and have been playing for maybe two weeks now. I've completed the main Oblivion quest,fighters guild and mages guild quests and was trying to get into the shivering isles expansion but I can't. I went to bravil and ran east onto the nibean bay ( or however you spell it) and only saw one island with Fort Grief on it and can't open the gate. I didnt see any NEW island with a big blue head or havent recieved and journal updates so now I'm all confused. I need help. Do I have to download any patches to access the expansion? I'm sorry to bother you all with this but I'm a noob to this game and need the help. Thanks in advance.

Make sure that the Shivering Isles is active in your Data Files list from the launcher where you start the game. If it is already, try unchecking it, start the game and save. Then exit, turn on SI again, and start from your save. It might re-add it correctly that way.

Run the game launcher, and select the Data menu. Is Shivering Isles checked? If not, check it.

You did install the expansion, right? I'm not sure how the 5th Anniversary edition is packaged, but the regular GOTY comes with the original game on disk1 and SI and KOTN on disk2. You have to install all.

You haven't said if you've already done this already, but if you have the anniversary edition you'll need to install the second disk. Once you've installed the content you have to wait 24 in-game hours, then you should get a journal pop-up saying something about a strange door in the niben. Hope this helps, it's not made clear on the packaging that the second disk needs installing.

Fort Grief is for a different quest. When you go there for that, face the door you can't open and look down, to your right, I think. There's a control on the ground to open the door.

Thank you guys/gals for the help I checked my data files and only saw Oblivion so now im installing the second disc. It's kinda weird since i used both discs to install the game. I will keep ya posted but THANKS again. I owe you.. =)
