Plea to devs: Let me swap the sticks round!

Post » Mon Oct 17, 2011 12:28 am

Everything I can find out is suggesting that like Oblivion, it will not be possible to swap the stick functions round in this game (on 360). If this is so, this is another game I'd love to play ruined for me and that will go back for a refund the next day (just like Oblivion). Just so I am clear, I need to move forward/back and strafe with the RIGHT stick and look around with the LEFT. Not much to ask is it? But it's a game-breaker if omitted; believe me I have tried...

Please....don't deny me Skyrim for the sake of a few lines of code.

P.S. anyone thinking this is a non-issue is recommended to go play any favourite fps of yours with the sticks swapped over from what you are used to, and see how you get on.

Not really helpful. I doubt my PC wiould run this game well. Though as an anology, imagine when you got your copy you were forced to use your mouse with your left hand to play this game. That's what it's like for me.

Is you left-handed? Because there aren't many games that (with Vanilla Controls) can accustom you with that control scheme.

Is this cause your left handed? Is that how left handed people have to have the sticks set out?

Cause if it is and they don't let you change it thats rather insane... Also you could probably get used to it after a good few hours i've had to rely on my left hand before after breaking my right, and i eventually got used to using it for most things.

lol in all serious though, youre gonna be let down more often than not, youd be better off in the long run persevering until its as natural as what you are currently used to

I use a gamepad on PC and both OB and FO3 have a stick swap option. Seeing that's available on the PC if it was feasible to add to the consoles they would have i'm sure. Unfortunately your a lefty in a world of righties so you'd best take what you can get. If this is a deal breaker for you then either get a PC or go without.

This is not a FPS. And I have tried multiple configurations on several games. All are doable (though, granted, not as comfortable), it just takes some time to get used to. I can't believe someone would take this game back for this reason!

I'm just wondering, how does one become accustomed to having the control sticks reversed? I haven't see any games that have it like that, although OB would switch up the controls like that whenever I tried to play it on my friend's console, despite their not being an option for it.

PS: What the hell is with the people asking "are you left handed?"? I'm left handed and I play with the standard controls fine, I don't even know how being left handed would change that.

There is absolutely no reason to not have the option. Even the lowliest game has it. And it is not the case that I am let down more often than not. I have encountered a grand total of three high profile games where the sticks could not be swapped: Oblivion, Condemned 2 and Bioshock.

I have tried, believe me. I was 6 hours into Bioshock and loving it (the game) until I just gave up due to the frustration. It is do-able until you hit a point where it really matters. But like I say, why should I have to? And for what it's worth I am not actually left handed! I write with my right hand. I just need game sticks the other way round from the norm.

Ok, so new 360 or Ps3 is like $250-300. You can build your own computer, and get TOP of the line graphics, as opposed to mid/lowerish-level graphics, for like $500.
