First person death

Post » Mon Oct 17, 2011 10:34 pm

Since a lot of people don't like having to watch the 3rd person slow-motion death 'scene' thing, I wonder how hard it would be (Obviously not now because the game is basically done) to put in a first person slow motion death scene. Since it would obviously help a lot with roleplaying and such. Say your death was cause by an arrow, your character could look down and see the arrow coming out of his chest, look back up with blurry vision then fall down, ultimately dying (This is obviously not how it works in real life but it'd be cool, I think.) Or say you get stabbed to death, you character could look down and see blood and organs coming out of his gut or something.

Sorry if this topic has already been started somewhere else, low on time so I didn't get a chance to really search it thoroughly.

Also what would be some visually awesome death scenes to see in 3rd person? Know no bounds as this entire system would be kind of hard to put in the game if it happened every time you died, and considering Skyrim is in the absolute final stages. (Love saying that)

This is a good idea but the problem is: we cannot see our body in first person view, not even our feet

I'd love this also but I wonder if we can use a dragon soul to heal our bodies post-death? I think that'd be a cool way to punish you since you can't use that soul for unlocking shouts. Also it'd give you motivation to not use your souls right after killing a dragon. Or you could use the soul to heal you right before you die.

So... you look down, see the person gut you and then look up and see him come around across your neck and blood splatters the screen kind of a thing?

Sounds cool to me.

Remember the way we would knocked down in Morrowind though? That works in first person. All os a suddent you'd learch forward and face plant into the ground. Something like that redone to Skyrim standards could work...?

I see this as the death sequence in most first person shooter games ( at least in multiplayer.).
Ex. The sniper shoots me from behind. After i die i watch the sniper find me and take the kill shot.

I think its a really good idea for Skyrim. Espesially since the multipe save games makes knowing where you will get shot from an advantage.
So i guess im for the OP's idea, wish it was in the game.

I think that when you die in 1st person, you should just sink to the ground like in the original Doom... you know, like the camera lost power and the hydraulics gave out?

lol

jk

I think a dedicated death sequence would be very cool for first person. Guess we'll have to wait and see if it's in the game or not. It'll be one of those little curiosities of mine until I see what actually happens.

Oh, so you want to deliver THEIR perspective of your death. Get in their head and watch them gut you.

That sounds cool too.

I guess a Morrowind sytle knock-down is more likely as you mentioned. Perhaps it can be modded into the game

I would love a game that had a rich pallette of first person animations, even tho it wasn't great, I like games that try new things like, mirrors edge did do alot of good fp animations. For a apparently fp game there alot of forced tp, which I'm not a fan of, now the only forced fp is lock picking mini game. So what ever tod say, I think that shows it's 'no' longer really pushing to be that first person exsperience the Market lacks and that i loved tes for, amount other things. Plz Beth next game first person finishers, horses, activities ect plz. A whole fp game like tes would be very cool.( Off topic bias, as I hate third person, and i only play third person games that deserve the attention or that I can play with friends, like currently been ripping up zombie in dead rising 2 coop but I was bought that by the guy I'm playing it with, same with edf I was bought that by a different guy I played that through with. I bought dark souls though because demons souls was great. )

What animations come to mind are the one's from battlefield 3, for all who played the beta. I think that's close enough to the op's request.
